ST. PAUL, Minn. — Former Vice President Walter Mondale is supporting state House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher (KELL'-uh-her) in a crowded field of Democratic candidates for governor.
A spokeswoman for Kelliher's campaign says Mondale will serve as campaign co-chairman.
The campaign gave The Associated Press a letter signed by Mondale and former Secretary of State Joan Growe that says Kelliher is "the strongest, most electable candidate in this race."
Kelliher is one of 11 Democrats running for governor. She and five others are seeking the DFL Party endorsement next week in Duluth. Kelliher has vowed to drop out if another candidate gets it.
