With Thompson out, Leinenkugel sounds like a candidate
Former Wisconsin Commerce Secretary Dick Leinenkugel sounded very much like he was running for the U.S. Senate Thursday, hours after former governor Tommy Thompson announced at a Tea Party event that he was forgoing a run.

Leinenkugel issued an evening statement saying he’s been hearing from “every corner of the state that I am the right person at the right time to end Russ Feingold’s 18-year, do nothing run in the U.S. Senate.”

“I am a father, a husband, a Catholic, a patriot and a conservative. I have been a private sector business person for nearly 25 years after serving four years as a Marine Corps’ officer. I am deeply committed to using my passion and my experience to help Wisconsin families. It has been what my family has been all about for over 150 years in Wisconsin,” Leinenkugel said.

"I look forward to being able to share my future plans within the next couple of weeks,” he added.

8. People in Wisconsin know how to pronounce that name.
Leinenkugel's has always been good beer.

This guy sold out to Miller about 20 years ago, but the quality hasn't suffered too much.

11. Miller owns it, but the family is still heavily involved in running it
Dick is apparently a VP of marketing, and his older brother Jake is the President. But Jake has donated to David Obey, so maybe they aren't all republicans :)

12. Is this guy the real nut job?
He's got two brothers, and I know that ONE of them (at least) is a real Teabagger. I don't know about this one -- Doyle appounted him to a position in his administration, so he may not be as bad as the others.
