1.4 percent jump in March is fastest pace of growth in 7 months

WASHINGTON - A gauge of the U.S. economy's prospects rose more strongly than expected to a record high in March, pointing to a steady economic recovery, a private research group said Monday.

The Conference Board said its index of leading economic indicators increased 1.4 percent, rising for the 12th straight month, after an upwardly revised 0.4 percent gain in February.

Analysts polled by Reuters had expected a 1.0 percent rise in March from a previously reported 0.1 percent gain.

Good - Democrats need the economy to be improving as the elections near. A double-dip will be Republican heaven - let's hope this recovery stays slow & steady.

19. This is a huge BFD!
Jobs are a lagging indicator so they won't come around until the rest of the economy is strong. If you'd prefer the rest of the economy to be weak, you'll never get a fucking job.

21. If you don't understand that growth = jobs, you have no business voicing an opinion on economics.

22. Yes, it does.
Jobs won't come back until the leading indicators come back.

Any unemployed person, who hasn't got shit for brains, should be happy with this news.

2. Systemic Issues
Is it not true that we will not ever again see middle class prosperity in the United States, unless some of the SYSTEMIC LOOPHOLES in banking and Wall Street get fixed?

Isn't there simply going to be more bursting bubbles in the near future if the foundations of our economy aren't overhauled to give us a level playing field?

what are the next bubbles you all see for the near future?

7. A friend of mine has gotten more job interviews in the past month than he has in the prior 1.5 years
He hasn't gotten a job yet but he's feeling optimistic he will at this rate. In the meantime, he's very glad that Democrats have extended his UI benefits yet again.
