Rubio Under Federal Investigation for Credit Card Use
Rubio Under Federal Investigation for Credit Card Use

Federal law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the use of American Express cards issued by the Republican Party of Florida to elected officials and staff -- including U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio (R), the St. Petersburg Times reports.

"Political parties, which are tax exempt, are allowed to spend money only on political activities, such as fundraising, running campaigns and registering voters. While it's commonplace for party officials and politicians to wine and dine donors, the Florida party allowed credit cardholders to rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in charges with little oversight."

1. Well, let the Feds dig more dirt on Rubio - and indict him for CC fraud
That'll squash any dreams of his Senatorship.

Hopefully that will remove Crist factor, (he has to decide if he wants to go I by April 30th)

4. I'd rather have Rubio -- damaged goods several times over -- going up against . . .

7. Crist requested the feds look into this
if for no other reason than that the State Attorney General is a republican running for Governor, which would seem a rather large conflict of interest. It seems quite likely that if McCollum, a diehard Reaganite, ran this investigation, the results would be published sometime after the election. The feds will likely move on this a bit more quickly. This apparently goes a good bit farther down the food chain than Rubio, to include the Speaker and Speaker designate, at least, if not more. Allegations have been filed in a local civil suit by former Chairman Greer that a large amount of hush money was offered by a whole group of senior republican current candidates. There are reports of 1.3 million in more or less unaccountable expenditures placed on the card of a young aide when she did not possess the card or authorize its use, for all sorts and kinds of luxury goods. This should be quite interesting.
