2. He currently beats any hypothetical Repub. opponent...
even when his approval is under 50% he beat all Repubs. pitted against him.

5. Thanks, Cali...
I guess some people here dislike Obama as much as the teabaggers do. Or else they dislike ME. Either way...no biggie. :)

26. There have been some really odd unrecs lately
Frenchie Cat posted on the repubs meeting with financial reps it got an unrec
There was a post about the illogical mindset of some tea partiers it got unrec'd

I know sometimes people hit unrec by mistake -- I wish they'd admit to it if they did

But there are some people who are either repubs or they just thrive on being difficult

32. Yeah, this thread is really suffering with 96 Recs now. Good thing you cancelled that UnRec.
Just think, after 12:22 Saturday afternoon nobody will be able to either Rec or unRec this thread.

12. These are actually pretty amazing numbers.
Considering the thumping he was taking during the drag out of the Health care bill and 10% unemployment.

30. 90% of that was media hype the get viewers and readers. The number of
people in the country who show up at Tea Bag events is tiny, but Fox News makes it look like a lot, and every other network has to compete with Fox to get and keep viewers.

Hundreds of thousands turned out at anti-Bush anti-war rallies in the Bush era, we heard nothing, we saw no love coverage.

Whenever Obama goes anywhere, he's greeted with cheers and applause, people love him even if only that he is NOT as dumb as those
stupid Republicans.

Wait until a few thousand kids have their lives saved because of health care, or a couple million more people are back to work, or the housing market and demand for products goes up some more. People will not want to abandon the guy.

I hope he does something with DADT and DOMA before too long. I hope he gets 3 million people back working before too long, but for sure that won't happen if people elect a Republican to the Congress or to the White House in 2012.

19. Good, but it wouldn't surprise me if it fell 3 points tomorrow
Gallup has been falling sharply on weekends for a few weeks, it seems. I don't think daily fluctuations are at all significant.

21. I know what you mean and his numbers DO seem to fall for NO apparent reason.
Not only on weekends, but any time. I just knew that the media wouldn't even mention that he went up to 50% today. They only report when he falls. :eyes:

22. That's wonderful but not the number I worry about...
The numbers I worry about is for the Democratic party because I don't want to see us lose control of the house or senate this year. John Boner is hard enough to take as the minority leader.

23. Boner is just one in a long line
of unbelievably despicable characters that populate the other side. Each one seemingly more sinister and uniquely repulsive in their own way. Let us do all we can to rid our government of this human waste.

28. But its good news right?
If Obama's numbers are going up that means Americans are realizing he's doing a good job despite the relentless, non-stop 7x24x365 negative baseless attacks from the rightwing.

29. I'd say 50% is pretty darn good, particularly considering the economic climate and all
the right wing nut jobs who have taken to the streets.

31. Good news for sure, but.....................
I believe that this is one of those infamous "tracking" polls. They are going to go up and down like a yoyo. They only matter if they track positively over a length of time, say a month or two. It's still better than a sharp stick in the eye. :)

33. I'm interested in approval polls on Teabaggers. Anyone know anything about those?
I saw a few before the HCR vote and they didn't seem too unfavorable to them. But, they've been acting out a whole lot lately and hitching their wagon to Sarah Palin a great deal. BTW, what's her approval rating? I know that the Tea Party is really coming off as racist and is turning a great many minorities--even Repug minorities--off. My sister is a rapid winger and she can't stomach Teabaggers. I know that the more the GOP and Teabaggers are seen as being married to each other, the more minorities will be likely to pull away from Rethugs. The GOP has written off the African-American vote, they can't afford to lose the Hispanic vote. African Americans are about 12% of the population. We Hispanics are 15%. That's almost a third of the population. If they lose the Hispanic vote, they're toast. They lost it heavily in 08. With Teabaggers being so race-baiting, the GOP is going to be bleeding more Hispanic members. That, just as much as Obama's approval ratings, interest me. Because the GOP isn't going anywhre now without the Tea Party. So, I was just wondering what their overall approval rating is now. The GOP has been manipulating Teabaggers as useful idiots. Now, it's amusing to watch how their servants have become their masters.

34. Teabaggers are cocky and that usually comes before a fall.
Even if they try to claim credit for whatever happens in November, the bottom line is that the economy is not in Obama's favor and that will have a lot more to do with any losses than a bunch of racists.

They will also have to fall in line behind someone like Romney in 2012 - and that will end any fantasy that they are anything but Republicans in drag.
