How can anyone here even think the Enquirer story has any truth
Edited on Sat May-01-10 09:26 PM by rasputin1952
to it?

Without empirical proof, I'm calling the whole thing bunk.

It suddenly comes up, just before the WH Correspondents Dinner? Give me a break, to obvious. This has RW hack job written all over it. Some stupid crackhead Wingnut came up with this "bombshell", and it is a dud.

How come bush never had a "sex scandal"? Oh wait, it was bush, damn stupid SOB couldn't find his putz and had to call in the SS to help him take a leak!

This is a non-issue, something that did not happen, and since the birthers are losing on all fronts, the oil spill in the Gulf belongs to bush's lackadaisical attitudes on policy that might have prevented this, (and the deaths of 29 miners in W.VA)...they need to hang something on PO. This is what they thought they had...and it is pure bullshit.

Come on people, let it go, With all of the real things going on. people think this has merit?

OK...rant off...

:hi:

edited, dumb typo's...

There are Republican operatives offering a million dollars for any evidence of Obama having an affair trying to dig up any dirt whatsoever in an attempt to smear the President.

Beyond that, it gets shady.

40. Actually, it didn't work.
They didn't bring Clinton down. IIRC, he was acquitted, AND his approval ratings went UP during the Lewinsky scandal/impeachment. He left office with a 66% approval rating.

But, yes, this is the same old republican shit. I guess they think they'll have better luck with it when it involves a black man. They guess wrong.

42. There has been an undercurrent of racism since PO began to run...
it's volume fluctuates, but it is always there...waiting for the slightest "reason" to rear it's ugly head.

A black president has not bought he nation to it's knees...in fact, a seriously flawed caucasian president did that.

For some, it is beyond their perception that a black person may be intellectually or morally capable of being in a position of power. I wonder just how many of these people think a non-politician is somehow, "unfit". Take Neil deGrasse Tyson, one of the greatest astrophysicists, I guess these mental midgets think that because he's black, he somehow can't "possibly" head the Hayden Planetarium of know what he's talking about.

Sometime, during my life, I'd love to see these stereotypical traps torn apart once and for all...:hi:

6. I don't think that much of anything that the Enquirer ...
prints has any truth. Which is why I don't read it. I didn't know about this until I read it here. The source is dubious and it is nobody else's business what Obama's marriage is like, but if the point you're trying to make is that it is unbelievable just because it is Obama, then you might think again. No one is perfect and you're better off going with the fact that the source is questionable.

something going on way before Obama even thought about running.

You need the other side to admit it, and she doesn't seem willing to play ball. I doubt an educated career woman would want Lewinsky's life.

I hope it's not true, but I really don't have that kind of faith in any person to say it's 100% false.

17. I offer one reason to disbelieve it.
I ask one and all: would a clearly intelligent man make this woman angry?

Yes, the first lady seems very sweet. But I have a hunch she's a woman no one would dare cross. I sense an underlying fierceness there. Further, she's usually seen "properly" dressed, but when she's casual, it's clear she's actually, um, sorta cute:

So, my reason to disbelieve this rumor: c'mon, the President already has a hottie, and he just doesn't seem stupid enough to blow it.

20. I don't mean to imply that I believe for a second in any smutty tales re the Obamas, but...
...please, let's not perpetuate the myth that attractive, smart, butt-kicking women never, ever get cheated on.

It's been proven time and time again that a wife doesn't have to be stupid, weak or ugly to have her husband cheat on her.

Again, I repeat: that doesn't mean I believe any crap that anyone might attempt to peddle in this situation. I'm just saying, it's stupid to imply a man would never cheat on his wife because she's too smart/hawt/etc. to cheat on or that he wouldn't do it because she'd kick his ass if he did.

I have nothing but the greatest respect of MO and PO.

Possibilities are always a situation that can come to fruition, but in this case, I find it difficult to believe that there is anything to the situation. I stand by my original statement, that w/o empirical proof, I find this an absurdity.

Heck, it was said that J Edgar Hoover was buried in his favorite print and pumps, but unless they exhume him, and prove it to me, I'll go with his usual suit. Point is, some people will say anything to get the ball rolling. Others will take it up and move it to supersonic speed, even if there is nothing there...it is a favorite RW tactic.

we really don't, but there are many "holier than thou" types who are more than happy to condemn a president, especially a D president.

Odd how the R's can carry on with impunity...think of Gingrich slapping divorce papers on his wife while she is recovering from cancer surgery...he made a special trip to do that. A slkight uproar, and that was it. Clinton gets receives fellatio in the WH and you'd think he set fire to 100 people all wrapped in flags.

Larry Craig has a hankering for BR sex, he says he's staying on...and the R's consider him some kind of hero...:wtf: To be sure, I'm all for people having sex, but there is something particularly gross, (at least to me), about seeking a shot in a public BR...x(

64. Oh, some folks just want to spread Edwards' smarminess around
in the laughable hope it'll make Edwards look a teensy bit less smarmy.

65. Uhhmmm How did you miss all the NE Condi/Bush stories?
The NE is a gossip rag - now sometimes gossip can be true - as it was with Limbaugh and drugs and Edwards.

Edwards, in a way, was a special case. In late 2006, a more quasi - reputable source, Salon(?) had a story that really did bring up questions. They had the outlines of the affair and they spoke of the videos Rielle made. The Edwards campaign immediately disappeared the videos. To me, that led to some suspicions - that were minimized when people who knew something of the K/E campaign, who did not like Edwards, said it was unlikely. He was faithful to Elizabeth.

My guess is that there was enough there to interest someone in the media to at least question it. Compare how much detail they had versus the story that the media did cover in 2004 until it became clear that the affair with an intern story had no affair and the woman was not an intern. I suspect that this was because editors and reporters had sufficient decency and compassion for Elizabeth. In addition, the media genuinely liked the Edwardses, especially in 2004 - 2006 - and this was not something in their picture of him. (the old thing where had Clinton misspelled potato - it would not have been a story because there was no belief that he was dumb.)

So, that left the NE, which always was a bottom feeder.

68. It's a bullshit story
about an alleged and denied "liason" SIX YEARS ago when he was running for the Senate in 2004.
Vera Baker denied that anything happened between her and Obama.
Then despite chasing down the rumor, neither the major networks nor the political opposition could not find anyone who could corroborate it or saw any suggestive behavior behavior between the two.
The article did not say anything about him fooling around since he became president, which makes it all the more pointless to bring the same disproven crap up again.
Except the point is that people in many quarters will do ANYTHING to discredit President Obama and the story claims that anti-Obama forces are offering $1 million to anyone who can "prove" the affair.

70. George W Bush did have a sex scandal to some degree.
The Enquirer had him and Condoleezza Rice doing the hucklebuck.
