Clinton on SCOTUS nomination: 'Never'
By Michael O'Brien - 05/02/10 11:07 AM ET

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Sunday she'd "never" be interested in an appointment to the Supreme Court.

Clinton, a former senator and graduate of Yale Law School, said that President Barack Obama shouldn't choose her to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court when Justice John Paul Stevens retires at the end of this term.

"I do not and have never wanted to be a judge. Never," Clinton said when asked if she'd be interested in the appointment. "That's never been anything I've even let cross my mind, because it's not in my personality."

The president has been looking at a number of women for his short list for the Supreme Court opening, including Solicitor General Elena Kagan.

The White House dismissed suggestions that Clinton might be on the short list for the nomination in mid-April after Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) dropped her name as a potentially amenable nominee.

1. As if Hillary would ever want to spend the rest of her life doing the SAME
thing...sitting around listening to lawyers argue. Don't blame her!

Not that being on the SCOTUS is a bad thing per se...just have to be that kind of person. Or "it's not in my personality" as she says. :)

2. Clinton would probably be as good as Stevens. Definitely better than Kagan.

Oh well. Since she is not interested, the whole thing is a moot point.

Nothing continues to unite the right and the left more than their mutual hatred of anything Clinton.

Pathetic bunch......

14. Um, my "comment" reflects an opinion based on historical fact, not "hatred of anything Clinton."

In fact, I happen to think Hillary is generally doing a good job of following President's Obama foreign policy decisions and Bill has been doing a good job of being an ex-President. I hope he can lose those 15 pounds in time for Chelsea's posh wedding to her Goldman-Sachs banker although I have no idea why she would do that because he doesn't look that fat to me.

And then there is your deleted message, whose content is better off forgotten. :tinfoilhat:

Despite my initial misgivings, I am appreciative of the general success of President Obama and Clinton's working relationship. She's doing a good job of representing President Obama's foreign policy to the world. Considering President Obama and his Secretary of State have been getting along fine now for quite awhile, don't you think it's time you "just let it go"? I know I have.

12. Good for her. Making Clinton a judge would be like making Richard Feynman a professional drummer.

To be appointed a judge, let alone to the SCOTUS, you need to be a truly great lawyer. Being a lawyer who has achieved true greatness in other fields is not sufficient.

a good job as Sec. of State.
