CNN = the boy who cried wolf.
I've had the tv on for most of the day as background noise while I puttered around the house and they've had a Breaking News banner on the screen all day - so I tune in to hear what the Breaking News is - and it's the same Breaking News story they had hours ago.
If there really is Breaking News - who the heck would ever know?

Breaking News!!! We are telling you the same thing we told you an hour ago, which was the same breaking news from an hour before that! And Breaking News!! This happened last nite and we reported on this same sound bite for hours but it's Breaking News!

5. "Breaking News" is relative.
Back when George Washington was president breaking news was any news from Europe that was less than three months old.

9. CNN as background noise? Don't you have something more pleasant....
like a chalkboard and fingernails, or silverware in the garbage disposal, or something?
