Dixie Chicks have a great new song.
Well, it is not all three Dixie Chicks. The two sisters Emily Robison, and Martie Maguire, have released an album under the name of "Courtyard Hounds." They have not dumped Natalie Maines, she will be touring with them as the "Dixie Chicks" this summmer.

The album sounds a lot like Cheryl Crow. There is one song that is awesome. It is a rocker called "Ain't No Son of Mine." It is about a kid who tells his father he is gay, and is disowned.

One of the untold stories about rhe whole Dixie Chicks affair from a few years ago now is that they were already pissing off the world of country music even before the Bush incident. Nashville was objecting to how "gay friendly" that they had become. There is little of this in the world of country music other than with the Americana format.

1. I have loved the Dixie Chicks for years and years. "Goodbye Earl" is one of the best ever....
... and I just bet it pissed off the good ol' boys because of the way it transgressed the boundaries of female country music all over the place.

I look forward to their new album and song.

10. Me too - loved the Dixie Chicks from the beginning. Goodbye Earl was a great song exposing Domestic
Violence.

2. I just read some good news about Natalie tonight.
She was being sued by Terry Hobbs, one of the stepfathers from the WM3 murders, for statements she made about the fact that his DNA was found at the scene. Not only did the judge dismiss the case but Hobbs was also ordered to pay court costs and Natalie's lawyer's fee.

4. Yes, the Maines hating rednecks were licking their chops.
Before Obama, Natalie was a favorite arget of the futuer tea baggers.

5. Courtyard Hounds were on Letterman last week.
Sounded great even without Natalie there.

7. I love the Chicks, but not really feeling the Court Yard Hound's new album
I adore Emily, but I don't think her voice has enough charisma or . . . something. She sounds like a weak version of Sheryl Crow and a little bit monatone. I feel horrible saying that, but the only song I could listen to in its entirety was Ain't No Son.

I wish them the very best though! They've have so much talent.

8. Natalie would have KILLED "Ain't No Son." I would love to hear her sing it.
It is a lot like "Lubbock or Leave It."

This is a nice album but it is not a great one. I find it gets better after about three listens.

11. Natalie has an amazing voice. It's too bad she's not doing vocals on this album.
