After close to a year of hinting at a run for Congress, Del. Herman L. Taylor Jr. is expected to formally announce Saturday his challenge of U.S. Rep. Donna F. Edwards in the 4th District.
"I guess it's not really a surprise to anyone," Taylor (D-Dist. 14) of Ashton said Wednesday of his campaign plans.
His announcement is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Edwards of Fort Washington is serving her first term in Congress. She defeated seven-term Rep. Albert R. Wynn in the 2008 primary with 59 percent of the vote. The 4th District snakes from southern Prince George's County to the northern Montgomery County border in Germantown.
