No 11th Congressional District runoff in GOP primary
ASHEVILLE — Tuesday's vote canvass showed Dan Eichenbaum picked up some votes in his bid for the Republican nomination in the 11th Congressional District, but it wasn't enough to force a runoff with winner Jeff Miller.

Meanwhile, McDowell County officials say election night problems with the electronic transfer of numbers caused some votes to be reported multiple times. After an audit, the problem was identified and revised numbers resulted in a change in second place in the Republican primary for state Senate District 47.

In the congressional primary, Miller earned 40.25 percent of the vote in the GOP primary for the 11th Congressional District, according to unofficial results from the state Board of Elections. He will face incumbent Democrat Heath Shuler in the fall.

Miller picked up an additional 27 votes in the canvass compared with 54 votes picked up for Eichenbaum.
