Will Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) face a primary after all?
Gillibrand, who was being challenged by long-shot labor activist Jonathan Tasini before he dropped out to run for the House, seemed set to avoid a primary despite public polling numbers that show she's vulnerable to a challenge.
But now a report in the New York Post has New York City corporation counsel staffer Gail Goode, an African-American lawyer, gearing up for a challenge.
The Post also notes that some conspiracy theorists will see a tie-in to Goode's city lawyer day job and her meta-boss Mayor Michael Bloomberg's longstanding dislike of Gillibrand. But others insisted she's not a plant for City Hall, because the mayor has made overtures of kindness toward the junior senator in recent weeks.
