Michele Bachmann Forgot To Pay Her Property Taxes On Time
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn) -- the firebrand conservative and Tea Party darling -- was late paying her property taxes this year and has been assessed a penalty because of it, her office confirmed to the Huffington Post.

The Minnesota Republican missed the due date for a $3,740 tax on her 5,200-square-foot home on the 18th hole of Stoneridge Golf Course. For the missed payment, she was penalized by the state of Minnesota a scant $74.90.

Notified of the missing payment, a spokesman for Bachmann said that she and her husband have since taken care of the matter.

"The payment has already been taken care of. Their payment has been made and processed. It should be posted shortly," said Dave Dziok.

1. Wow. That's a small penalty.
My property taxes are a third less than that and my late penalty is $300.

4. Not news?
If I would miss mine by 2 days my name would be published in the local paper as tax delinquent. Why should she get a pass.

7. Maybe hers was, and that's how it got out. But it's still piling on...
There's enough real stuff to get her on without us looking like clowns harping on chickenshit.

8. Each jurisdiction has it's own rules regarding late payments
And with a penalty of a mere two percent, I'd be surprised if more people in her jurisdiction didn't do it. You want taxes to arrive on time, you enact penalties that get them there on time.

12. "$3,740 tax on her 5,200-square-foot home"
Holy shit- just $3740 a year? I pay that on 1900 sf in a 40 year old neighborhood (not attached to a golf course)
