Israel's defenders mobilize, threaten (in D.C./White house)

-snip-

Indeed, even after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesman publicly thanked Washington for its efforts to "water down" a statement by the president of the United Nations Security Council issued early on Tuesday morning, hard-line neo-conservatives complained bitterly that Obama had betrayed its closest ally by not vetoing it.

-snip-

"If Obama decides it is in America's interest to make an example of Israel after the Gaza flotilla incident in order to win goodwill in Cairo, Beirut, Tehran and Ankara," warned Michael Rubin of the American Enterprise Institute, "then he must also recognize that the leadership in Jerusalem is going to conclude that it cannot trust the United States to safeguard its security, and that therefore it must take matters into its own hands on any number of issues, not the least of which is Iran's nuclear program."

In effect, if the White House decides to come down hard on Israel now," he added in National Review Online, "it is the same as giving a green light for Israel to strike Iran."

That threat was echoed in a remarkable column published by the neo-conservative Wall Street Journal on Tuesday in which the author, Ronen Bergman of Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, argued that the operation itself was "irresponsible" and evidence that a "siege mentality" - based on the belief that world opinion is irreversibly hostile to the Jewish state - had taken hold of the country and its governing elite.

-snip-

Similar talking points, however, were deployed by The Israel Project (TIP), another right-wing Zionist group that mobilized its members to write e-mails to lawmakers and media outlets in their area calling on them to stand by Israel. In the space of two hours on Tuesday afternoon, the Washington bureau of Inter Press Service received nearly 20 emails from TIP members in support of Israel's version of the incident.

1. Ah The Israel Project just knew they'd be in on the act soon

Here is a PDF copy of their 2009 handbook with a snip of it's contents it's quite a read

The Israel Project’s 2009
GLOBAL LANGUAGE
DICTIONARY

4) There is NEVER, EVER, any justification for the deliberate slaughter of innocent
women and children. NEVER. The primary Palestinian public relations goal is to
demonstrate that the so-called “hopelessness of the oppressed Palestinians” is what
causes them to go out and kill children. This must be challenged immediately,
aggressively, and directly.

“We may disagree about politics and we may disagree about economics. But
there is one fundamental principle that all peoples from all parts of the globe will
agree on: civilized people do not target innocent women and children for death.”
5) Don’t pretend that Israel is without mistakes or fault. It’s not true and no one
believes it. Pretending Israel is free from errors does not pass the smell test. It will only
make your listeners question the veracity of everything else you say. Admitting that
Israel has and continues to make mistakes does not undermine the overall justice of
Israel’s goals: peace and security and a better quality of life for BOTH sides.
Use humility. “I know that in trying to defend its children and citizens from terrorists
that Israel has accidentally hurt innocent people. I know it, and I’m sorry for it. But
what can Israel do to defend itself? If America had given up land for peace – and that
land had been used for launching rockets at America, what would America do? Israel
was attacked with thousands of rockets from Iran-backed Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.
What should Israel have done to protect her children?

2. Let Israel be a rogue state or else ...
it will be a roguer state.

Hey, how well will Israel do as a rogue state going it alone in the world?

Or will the IDF invade the WH to punish Obama?

3. I wouldn't be too eager to test that because if I was them in such a scenario
I'd feel forced to act while I maintained an advantage. I'd absolutely decimate my neighbor's infrastructure right along with military targets to minimize their ability to attack or threaten seriously. I'd also empty the West Bank and Gaza to create a refugee situation for my adversaries while they were dealing with he destruction of their roads, power generation, and water supply to further increase the strain and to create divisions among the Arabs.

You think it's dicey over there now? Wait until you unleash the tiger from it's collar and throw them to the dogs.

I wouldn't play and neither would I expect Israel to do so. Whether you want to admit it or not Israel displays comparative restraint, I'd be slow to take away the advantages of that restraint.
