We need a "APOLLO TYPE" Energy plan announced tonight!!!!!
I know it is a cliche, and has been said 1000 times, but the BP Disaster is all the proof we need!

Everyone, including the Idiot GOP, knows that at some point we need to remove the dependence on fossil fuels.

What a better time to start than NOW!

It will cost billions, but this would change this whole country and also create thousands of jobs.

We need a tax on gas to pay for part of it and removing the subsidies for the Oil Companies would save billions.

Try Solar and wind. Put the electrical grid in place to transfer power easily.

I cannot believe this country does not have the engineers and knowledge to solve this problem with Solar and Wind.

And I know the lobbyists will fight it, but I hope the country has the guts to stand up and push back.

It might take 20 years, but it is 20 years we are going to have to spend at some point. Why not now?

And naysayers will say it is not possible and that the technology is not there but that is the same thing people said about the Apollo program at the time, including the people working on it!!

Dammit, this country can meet challenges when needed, and this is needed more than ever!!!

The big question is do we have the guts to do it????

1. To hell with that, we need a MANHATTAN PROJECT type plan for energy.
Get the best brains in the sciences and lock them away on a military base with everything they need until they improve photovoltaic efficiency by 200%, battery cost and life by 75%, and have made progress on fusion and geothermal.

What makes you think something like it isn't already happening?

Nah! If it isn't a weapon to kill millions at once it probably isn't happening.

4. Timing is everything in Politics and this just not be the time .
It might be that the Public are focused on stopping the spill
and holding people accountable, helping the people in the affected
states. Could it be interpreted as the "Left" trying to
take advantage of a situation???

It might be more effective to solve the immediate problems
and bring up Energy Legislation later.

Just some thoughts.

I realize we need serious Energy Legislation just question
the timing???

7. When has the time ever been right for progressive change?
It has always come about when the people have pushed it and when we have had office holders who had the courage to listen, take positions and lead not use the pragmatic "now is not the time" excuse to protect the status quo.

13. The time was at least 40 years ago. Every moment of delay adds cost and
increases the damage done.

What it is not time for is more punting down the road, political cowardice, and triangulation.

Now is well past the time and your excuses are empty and pitiful.
