Is there any chance that anything President Obama will tell us tonight
will be something that we won't already know ahead of time?

So often these addresses turn out to be like watching a movie that you've already been told all about and how it ends. I would love to be pleasantly surprised tonight.

1. You can be sure the pundits will say
"He didn't strike the right tone" "There was no meat" "There was no great quotes like the Carter Oval Office Speech"

4. Yeah, and the President never
surprises.

He's "thinned skin".."not emotional enough"..and mediawhores know it all because they are such perfect specimens of human beings.

9. Because there usually is not new information. It would be nice to hear something from the President
that somebody beforehand has not told me he will say. Not just the tone, the actual words.

that I learn from the President when he speaks.

19. Facts sure, but not new facts, not facts or proposals that I haven't already heard.
That's not just true of Obama, but of most recent presidents or politicians giving a major address or speech.

21. Then we will just have to agree to disagree.
To do otherwise would be disagreeable and we don't want that, do we? I don't.

6. If you have followed the events, there will probably be nothing new in it for you.....
but if you are like the millions that only read headlines and
the Rush radio reports, perhaps there will a whole bunch of shit in
there that you had no clue were happening.

7. Good point, Frenchie. I've been watching all his addresses, speeches, press
comments - but I'm the only person I personally know who has been paying that much attention. So it'll be kind of a rehash to me, but helpful and informative to those who haven't been as involved.

13. I've followed events, but once in awhile it would be nice to hear something from his lips first,
before I hear it spun or torn apart.

16. Well, we won't know this time if that's truly the case until he speaks,
now will we?

But to some degree, you are correct......
the man is pretty much predictable,
and sometimes that's a good thing,
and sometimes, it ain't.

But we shall see what it is this time round....

but it is still true that most Americans
have not followed the daytime television cables,
and have only heard a few news report on this here and there.....
and if that's the case, they believe the worse,
in case of what the government hasn't done.

18.  I always learn something when the President
speaks to the country..I'm looking forward.

This is the biggest fuckup possible by BP and Pres Obama is taking the heat but he can handle and we're fortunate he's the one in charge or it would never get better.

8. I don't know why they release talking points early, sometimes the entire speech...
Why watch if you know it all beforehand?

17. Oh....I agree, that a pleasant surprise here or there couldn't hurt....
and I often call this President quite predictable...
and told my husband that this is one of his flaws, IMO.
Most times, there's nothing wrong with predictability....
but just sometimes, an element of surprise would do us all some good.

14. His truly biggest mistake on this whole Oil mess was
Edited on Tue Jun-15-10 04:50 PM by FrenchieCat
was not cleaning up the other guys' 30 years of shit fast enough.....
and now they have told us that it's all his,
and Americans have bought into that....
so until the oil leak is plugged,
he is simply fucked, and therefore so are we.
That's just the way it is.
