The predictability of this place, just like DK and the rest of the Left blogs, is actually quite hilarious.

1. Unfortunately you're right. Nothing is ever good enough for anybody.
Not here on DU, not in the MSM, and not the Pubbies anywhere. It's quite sad really.

Otherwise of what? I don't think the OP made such a distinction.

Edit: quote correction.

4. You think we should be praising Obama for his great commitment to, well, NOTHING?
Face it, the fact that he STILL wants offshore drilling means he's still kissing Big Oil's ass. Barack Obama doesn't give a damn about the people of the Gulf. If he did, he'd be working to nationalize BP.

13. It's not that he wants it...it's the fact that we need it.
I hate this off shore drilling crap. But we are a nation that lives on petroleum. Unless you are willing to live without gasoline for your car for a period of time and for your house and so on. Well then, here's no need for drilling.

childishness.

I don't know what folks are expecting here. It's a freaking opinion forum and it is

NOT THE CENTER OF THE WORLD!

Get a GRIP. Accept that people are going to have diffent opinions.

What is the purpose of all the callouts?

No one is being fooled here. These are freaking TANTRUMS. If folks were really trying to change people's minds they wouldn't be calling out everyone around them.

10. Precisely
I am entitled to my opinion just as is the OP. Frankly I thought the speech was lukewarm at the very best and frankly no where near what I would expect from such a great speaker.

We are all to blame in a sense for the disaster (every time we get into our car to go somewhere we use oil), but this has been mismanaged from well before day one and I am not seeing much improvement..

As the old saying goes here in my state...

"I am from Missouri - Show Me" and to date I have not seen much.

12. Of course. We're consistent. We're less interested in a lot of talk about what he's going to do ..
.... and would prefer more doing.

Do something and talk about it later. We've seen what happens with the "Any bill I sign must..." tough talk.

14. I knew what would be posted and by whom as soon as the speech was announced
I knew the moment I heard there would be a speech that MSNBC would rail against Obama.

They have after every speech since he was sworn in, so why should now be any different?

:shrug:

And don't get me started on the predictability of DU. Some people around here won't be happy until Obama is impeached.

sarcastic threads last night as soon as it was over.

Before others were able to offer serious analysis, everyone was distracted by their preemptive whiny about reactions.

35. I find few thinks that he is perfect......
Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 03:29 PM by FrenchieCat
even if some, like me, don't feel like jumping on the daily pile-ons just cause they're there.

Perhaps it is those who don't work so hard at finding the next criticism of this President
to jump on, who appreciate progress and see that we are experiencing such, no matter if it isn't fast enough for others.
Maybe it is us who best remember what the last 8 years were like,
and are not ready to contribute to getting there again just for the sake of scoring petty political points.
Perhaps it is us who are unselfish and unwilling to do what is simple;
telegraph our personal dissatifaction, acting like that is what is paramount, each and everyday.
It is perhaps those who are most tolerant of giving this president a greater chance who are
most concerned and pragmatic at looking after the future.

Some say that those who don't criticize the President as much as they should who must only care about the man and less about policy.

I say the exact opposite;
it is those who bash this President relentlessly who care little about policy......because it is obvious that they don't think in long terms enough to realize that if the President fails, what he will be replaced with will make what they see as his flaw; policy smallness, seem like greatness but way too late after-the-fact.

I criticize this President via my emails to the WH (I also write letters of praise when deserved).....
cause I'm not into the circular firing squad to prove that this President is not perfect;
cause I never expected him to be perfect.
I already know, cause I ain't stupid, that any criticism uttered is added to the undue criticism from the right....
and in the end, it all looks like negativity against this president to the voting masses.

I'm less interested in being right, than I am in being assured with as many years of progress as possible.
This country desperately needs repair, and I'll do whatever I can to see that done.
So those who want to say that Obama fans only care about the man need to think that one through
and perhaps will realize one day what some of us really cared about......
and it wasn't about one person; this President so much.....as much as it is about an overarching priority towards progress.
