MSM has jumped the shark when the fact that the pundits trashed a speech
Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 08:14 AM by Empowerer
is the lead story in the speech coverage.

They didn't even pretend to try to report on what the President actually said - skipped right over that minor detail to go directly to the only thing that matters to them: what THEY think about what the President had said, how he said it and why they think, of course, it didn't measure up to the standard they set for it.

Mika Brzezinski - who this morning lit into Barnicle, et al for their snarky hypocrisy - was one of the few voices reason this morning. Hats off to her.

4. I do agree with you on this...
...but the M$M has jumped the shark countless times for years. Nothing new here.

10. You're right - but i've never seen them go this far
I actually think this time it might backfire since they look so ridiculous that even some of their own are distancing themselves. This might be the impetus that makes the pendulum start back in the other direction.

5. It's been so long since ANYONE in MSM had a relatively original thought that they don't even
know they are just an echo chamber, full of millionaires - unfortunately, or, probably, they do know, but they just don't give a good god damn.

which is why I haven't paid any attention since the big consolidation began.

7. Mika has been pretty reasonable in all of this...
.... especially during the whole "the President isn't showing enough anger" time frame.

You noticed the showed a fair amount of anger last night .... and nobody noticed.

8. I actually turned off Stepphanie Miller this morning
Not because of Stephanie but because she's having Tweety on.

Tweety went on a whirlwind tour of shows this morning. Bill Press, Joe Scumburger, and now Stephanie Miller.

If Tweety's on a show, it's off my television or radio now.

No Tweety, not now, not ever.

9. The media pundits have to trash the President
It's cover for all the bullshit they've been reporting.

How else would they explain their 24/7 spin to date if they acknowledged that what he said was encouraging and factual?

They may be missing the point and the irony too. Funny that. Not.

13. these people are useless
It's pathetic how many set store by what they say.

Their whole point is to get ratings, so they play to the lowest common denominator. None of them has ever done anything useful in their lives, and they spend all their time trying to trash those who at least do something, whatever it may be.

They've become caricatures of themselves.

Everytime Chris Matthews leg shivers, an angel loses a feather.

15. I turned off Olberman last night
I gave him about 10 minutes to stop whining about the speech (with Tweety.)
It was the first time I ever turned off the tv with Keith. (not counting "Fridays with Thurber")

16. Me too, and I won't be tuning back in any time soon. I don't want him
to be a cheerleader, but he's not even realistic. In fact he's full of shit. A little history lesson on oval office speeches would be nice for Keith.

19. You honestly think Olbermann needs a history lesson on Oval Office speeches?
If you do, HE's not the one who's full of shit.

This whole OP is one big whine..."oh, the media are soooooo horrible because they're not praising Obama's every word to the skies. They must suck."

Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 10:52 AM by Phx_Dem
It just makes you a blowhard. Keith doesn't even have the guts to have people on who disagree with him. At least Rachel and Tweety do that.

18. The media turned on and hates Obama. They did it to Al Gore and John Kerry to
some extent too. It is a pattern of snarky BS from them, as if they are above it all. Look how poorly they lied and treated Gore and Kerry so badly. Hell, they treated Hillary not so great either. Now it is Obama's turn. If Bush had half the amount of scrutiny would we even be in Iraq?

26. Wonder why so many Obama supporters can't figure that out
The media bias did not start with Obama. This is a pattern than has been going on for ten years (maybe longer).
