BP is the ONLY ONE who can stop this leak!!!
There is no magic solution!! No secret expert Obama can find that has a one day solution. No Navy Seal teams that know how to do this.

The engineers working on this are not evil!! Just working people like you and me who I am sure take pride in doing their best.

These men and women have done this for years. They know more about it than Palin or any lay person!

We need BP to solve this. Switching now would be a disaster. BP has more motive than anyone to stop this leak because their company's future rides on stopping this as soon as possible!!!

BP is doing a lot of stuff WRONG. But they are the only ones who can stop this thing and have the technology to do it.

Obama is 100% right in leaving them in charge of fixing the leak!!!

14. Not only am I not pro BP
You cannot possibly fathom the immensity of the fuck I do not give about them.

I do however believe that the optimal solution in correcting this mess is best left in their hands with their own technology and knowhow. Comments like fuck 'em, string 'em up, sink 'em, whatever , do little to help the situation and are hardly constructive. It is only their continued well being which will provide the overall funds necessary for claims and clean up.

At the current rate with their share value dropping like a stone you might just find that Petrochina has become a Pentagon supplier by taking ownership of BP for a mere song.

8. I see this more as a "hold BP accountable" thread. They made this mess,
it's their job to fix this. And they and their peer companies are the only ones with the equipment and experience to find a way out of this mess.

13. It's obvious that BP has no interest in fixing this.
Or at the very least, it takes a huge back seat to continued profitability of the damaged well in question. They do not want to seal off this gaping fucking hole in the ocean floor, they want to replace it with a "functional" hole that would allow them to keep draining the oil from the earth.

That is what's wrong with BP's approach. Their priority is NOT stopping the disaster THEY caused, but minimizing their financial loss from it.

15. You need to think a little more and react a little less.
That well will NEVER be reopened. I will bet you $100 that it is never reopened!

16. Oh no, you're not pro BP. Not at all
:eyes:

FUCK British Petroleum's profit margin and FUCK Phoney Haywad getting his life back. Plug the hole. And all the others underwater. And never drill the oceans again.

That's the reality. There is no such thing as a "safe" offshore drilling operation.

4. should they also be in charge of the containment and cleanup?
that does not require a magic solution.

That is what I read that folks are suggesting.

9. what does "in charge" mean?
Seriously. It's mandated by the Federal government. That is a form of "in charge".
What policies would you have the government implement and how do they fit with what you mean by "in charge"?

6. The only real solution is the relief wells they are drilling and that takes time. n/t
Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 10:59 AM by Ozymanithrax
But as long as people keep singing, "I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now" we will continue to here the Mantra that Obama is just Bush with a brain and a sun tan.

7. I simply do not care about this leak in and of itself
The leak is and will be until Sept. or so. Which is more or less what I've thought from the beginning.

What I want from O is some acknowledgement of our fuckitude on the climate issue. That is the energy issue of our time, more than anything else.

I'm disappointed I didn't get more of it last night. But I'll fight on, until we've lost, which we will. Because the Senate are a bunch of hateful shriveled up old fucks who don't give a crap about their grandkids' world.

17. BP is about covering their ass and protecting it's people from legal liability
Experts my left nut, they didn't even drill the well in the first place.

That board should be replaced two months ago and their technology and experts should be under control of a group of scientists, engineers, industry experts, and environmentalists who aren't dedicated to BP's bottom line and their own asses.

BP cannot even remotely be trusted and their lying and crap data has likely made the problem worse.

To want this criminal board in control of the operation borders on suicidal.

Tony Hayward is no more plugging the hole, drilling wells, operating submersibles, or cleaning up the mess than some kid in a daycare in Maine. I bet there are THOUSANDS of better geologists than this lying fuckwad. No real scientist would be so fact adverse and the rest of the MBA's, PR folks, and marketing gurus that some think are uniquely qualified to handle this or even try to, are bullshit too.

These fucks are scientists like Bush jr was a Ivy Leaguer with an advanced degree, in name only at the very most. They might have a real head or two for science and engineering in the gaggle but this board has no uber or unique ability to do shit besides squeeze profits and have the right connections to do so.

They certainly would have if they could.

Nobody can. We'll still be waiting on the relief well when the election comes around.

21. The GOP set it up so our "small government" does not have the tools
to deal with this..."private enterprise" does everything better so we do not maintain the level of expertise & equipment to deal with it. They do. I wish it wasn't like that but it wasn't Obama who set it up like that.
