Olbermann

Then I will say, more or less: this is easily the smartest political leader I have ever seen, as good a political public speaker as I've heard, + last October I was privileged along with 11 other newspeople to spend 2 hours with him as he showed extemporaneous mastery of every one of two dozen topics fired at him by us in random order. I left the room wondering if we had ever before actually elected a president who was one of the 1,000 smartest people in the country (or maybe 100, or 10) as we had now. I believe in him and in his presidency and he has frequently achieved success (in health care reform, particularly) by doing that for which I criticized him. I hope that is again the case now because the Gulf Speech was not up to his standards nor did it express his mastery of policy. And if you will stop watching because I said this, I'll be very sorry, but you will have been watching for the wrong reason. I am not, have not been, and will not be, any politician's, nor any president's, spokesman.

1. Guess, he's been majorly "fired upon..."
When I think of the embarrassing Bush*-delivered crap that the MSM praised to no end.... well, it does add some perspective.

nor do I view Keith as a trained monkey. A trained money would take back his comments, but instead he apologizes and explains why he asserts his comments.

Saying someone's smart and criticising something they do/say is not contradictory, no matter how much hair-pulling some of you do.

41. I'm the chair of my DTC and I will keep watching Olbermann and am glad he criticizes Obama
and Democrats for the correct reasons. Democrats need Olbermann, Maddow, Schultz and O'Donnell to nag our conscious with the Truth whether we like it or not. Democrats are not perfect and we should take criticism from friends as our friends helping us to be better.

Obama's speech last night was one of his worse, but Obama's worse is still better than McCain's or Bush's best. Instead of saying he would inform BP to setup a fund, he should have said that he would DEMAND that BP setup a fund to start paying for the damage and ruin they are causing residents of the Gulf and to our nation. Obama last night still sounded like BP was still in charge. I also wanted to hear Obama say that the Federal government would take over cleaining the beaches and marshes, so that we can make sure the workers have proper haz mat clothing to protect them and training so they don't run amuck through bird nesting areas. Also, the Federal government should allow journalists to photograph and video tape the destruction BP has wrought in wild life. Seeing pictures of dead dolphins on a beach would to more to galvanize Americans from around the country to demand Congress create policies to get us off fossil fuels in 10 years or less.

Obama's speech was mostly lame, especially the stupid prayer part. There he was trying to mimic Saint Ronnie Reagan, who during his campaign he compared himself to. Maybe Obama is the Democratic Reagan. If so, we'll all be in trouble.

I liked his show last night. He said nothing that wasn't true.

Jon Steward had the correct take on the speech too last night. And, his show was filmed before it was given.

12. Someone sounds a little defensive today.
Fear not, Keith. I haven't stopped watching because he criticized last night's speech, I've stopped watching because you've become an annoying blowhard just like most of your colleagues. You and your colleague's instant analysis, predictions, and declarations has proven to be wrong in almost every instance.

Why would I keep watching someone who constantly tells me what to think and then almost always turns out to be wrong?

*Hillary Clinton is not President and did not even get the party's nomination
*Hillary didn't wreak havoc at the Democratic National Convention after losing the nomination (as Rachel assured us would happen)
*Rudy Guiliani didn't even come close to becoming the Republican Presidential nominee as predicted incessantly
*The stimulus plan has worked and continues to work
*The Fed did not need to take over banks in order to save the economy
*Health care reform is not dead. It's a law
*Blanche Lincoln is not toast. (good or bad, all of the MSM declarations about her were wrong)
*Sarah Palin is not a force to be reckoned with (unless you're a moose). She's an idiot who gets airtime from you idiots
*The teabaggers did not derail healthcare, or anything else

I'm sure they are tons of other brilliant declarations and analysis that I haven't included, but you get the picture.

The only one I watch is Rachel and I will also give Lawrence O'Donnell a chance.

They went on about it. I say who cares?

Don't obsess Keith.Obama said the
right things. I was fine with his Oval address. I usually
