Were There Overnight Snap Polls On The Speech That Totally Contradicted The Pundits Slamming???
Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 05:15 PM by Beetwasher
Seems like there might have been, which is why we're seeing such a different tune today.

Remember the debates with McCain when the pundits would slam Obama, but the snap polls would come out totally contradicting that impression and VOILA! The next day, tons of crow specials were being served up.

5. Cool!
Thanks for that. Watch for polls released soon that show a positive response to the speech. I think that's what's going on.

3. similar to the debates
except those polling results were generally available an hour after the debate ended and they would change their tune during the same program. it was funny seeing cnn's "best political team" packed like sardines on the set talking negatively about him and then getting the poll results and looking dumbfounded. transparent assholes, all of them.

4. Yeah, I Remember That Very Clearly, It Was Pretty Amazing
Seeing the 180 happen so quickly. Amazing and sad.

7. Several sad things:
1) pundits' being so negative about a speech that was neither brilliant nor awful;
2) pundits' claiming that the speech wouldn't play with the public, as if they could tell; and
3) pundits' now claiming that the speech was good based on polls showing positive audience response, as if that were the only measure of what speech was NEEDED.

I like Obama, but I was underwhelmed by his speech. He needed to push energy-policy reform, particularly cap-and-trade or something else that would up the price on energy use.

8. Most of the Pundits Got to Be Pundits Because They are a "Personality"
and not because they are a beacon of cogent and insightful policy analysis. I would say that Keith, Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell are exceptions and I'm sure there are a few others.

These folks want to be the ones to tell the American people how to think and yet the American people are usually right about stuff and the pundits are wrong...
