Romney Invests Heavily in Haley
Mitt Romney has contributed $42,000 to Nikki Haley's (R) campaign for governor in South Carolina, Politico reports.

Political action committees are typically capped at giving $3,500 per cycle, but lawyers "discovered that multiple PACs sharing the same leadership and office space are able to contribute $3,500 each per cycle in South Carolina... With one federal PAC and five statewide PACs each maxing out at $3,500 for Haley in both the GOP primary and general elections, Romney has contributed a total of $42,000."

1. Making a play for South Carolina...
If he does get the nomination it will be an interesting campaign, since Obama essentially signed off on his health care plan and there are more than a few areas where he can- if so inclined, outflank the administration on the left.

3. Wow...
I never thought about that. I think you may be right. I don't know a lot about her, I'm going to read up. Wonder if she could be a threat...at least with the Indies.

7. You're right...
something to watch, for sure. Especially if she enlists (which she will) Palin's help, that's a lot of pull. I don't understand the appeal of Palin, but I don't think it's something to take lightly either--with respect to her endorsements and the campaigning she can do.

4. Yep, Mittens has to have a card to play
with the Southern fundies. They sure don't want to vote for him, and if he gets the Rethug nomination, it will be in spite of them, so he needs a hook to get them to do something other than sit on their hands or vote third party in '12.

If Romney edges Caribou Barbie out of the way, he also has to have a bone to throw to the Repuke women who will be disappointed by her not being the candidate. The ethnicity also plays well against his "great white savior" Mormon image, too.
