There's no holiday vacation celebrating this week for the over two million workers left jobless in this devastating job market without a federal extension of unemployment benefits. When back home for the holiday, those who voted against the extension in both the Senate and House of Representatives should hear their voices loud and clear when the elected officials attend their barbeques, their parades, their town hall meetings, and their local call-in radio shows.
The message is short and sweet, especially when delivered by those who are suffering the daily hardships of unemployment, their families, their friends and their neighbors - "Senators and Congressmen, get your priorities right and pass the extension of unemployment benefits and resume the COBRA health care subsidies for the unemployed. "Don't Cut Off America, Save the Recovery!"
Get out there to their events, call-in to their offices, ask for a meeting, reach out to your local press. Make sure those elected officials who voted against the extension and health care benefits for the unemployed put a face to the unemployment crisis so they think twice before voting against the unemployed again.
