to NAACP and they referred to elecments in the TeaParty.
Fox and the Republicans leave themselves open to be judged in an unfavorable light when they kneejerkedly protect questionable characters.
All parties on both sides would do well to simply accept the fact that there are people who can be called racist and time will eventually solve some of these situations.
There are some who from the beginning could not and will not accept the fact there is a black man in the White House. To be fair this is not the whole Republican Party.
Some Congressmen including Vitter play into and pander to these people by supporting the idea of Birthers suing the Government. You have to remember there are many who grew up and lived in sections of the country where you do find clusters who have not been able to move forward with the country re race and race relations. We know the tactics. They know better than to be outright racists. Therefore, they find another "fault" and go nuts on that issue. They hope by using this issue they accomplish their inner racial disgust. They want their country back. (from a black man). They cannot say this outloud. Ah, let us say he is illegally in office and get him out on that basis--in their warped thinking, no one can call them racist. Vitter(Harvard grad and Rhodes Scholar) knows better. Holding office is so important that he stepping in the gutter. When Republicans with his background stoop this low, it makes many not trust any Republican.
In the polls the Republicans still fall lowest in approval. These divisive issues will hurt them in the long run.
Winning the battle and losing the war is not a good strategy for a party who wishes power over the long run. Fox will eventually lose audience with all their negativity and creating dissenstion.
