If the mainstream media had any balls, they would stomp hard on Breitbart's neck and squash him
Edited on Wed Jul-21-10 04:35 PM by zulchzulu
I doubt that the clowns behind the desks of the news organizations' newsrooms who spouted the nonsense about Sherrod really give a tinker's damn about what happened and how they took the bait from one of the Drudge Lie Machine's pals, but if they had ANY validity or an ounce of journalistic integrity, they would feature just how much distortion and lies there are spewing from the Right Wing Echo Chamber.

Do a feature calling out Breitbart. Show how they were fooled. Show how it will NEVER happen again. Show how people like Breitbart are hell-bent on lying and are utterly without any credentials. Blacklist his site from being considered anything near "news" when a report is made. Make it a lesson to the other usual suspects. Do an editorial about how blowholes like Breitbart are like a cancer on trusting a news organization that dares to maintain a level of quality and credibility.

Of course, it won't ever happen. Truth is something akin to a slick commercial where the small print taketh what the big print giveth away. We should not expect puppets to dance without strings attached.

1. They are part of him. They need him there so that they can follow up
on his stories.

It's kind of like a partnership.

2. they're discussing on Hardball now
There seems to be some building backlash - the media knows they were
played on the Acorn thing.
I hope people will post here anything they see indicating a
proportionate media response.

5. If the MSM is smart ... they will pound Fox on this ...
Fox has been calling every other media outlet "liberal media" for years.

And the "liberal media" has not fought them back.

Maybe they will figure out that if they can dent Fox and prove it is a JOKE, their own ratings will improve.

11. I hate to be the wet blanket ...
but I can tell you FOR A FACT how this plays out ...

there is going to be a VERY brief, pathetic acknowledgement of this situation ...

They will VERY quickly turn to the "But, BOTH sides are the same with this" ... They will pull out some kind of false equivilency with the "left" doing the same thing (real or not)...

There then will be an inverse blowback on the left ... The next time something comes up where some right wing arsehat is caught red handed being an arsehat, they will use this situation to protect the right wing arsehat saying, "I think we learned from teh sharrod situation to make sure we get all of the fact ..."

BOOK IT, this is how this plays out ...

18. Not so sure ...
I agree that is the pattern ... but I just listened to Ed Schultz ... he POUNDED Fox ... he did not play the false equivalent game ... he POUNDED them all ...

This situation might the one that ends that nonsense ... CNN played her whole speech ... it is awesome ... no rational person could hear it and take away what FOX claimed ... it is impossible.

I hope the MSM (and the WH for that matter)figures out that they have been scared of a paper tiger ... a shadow ...

Perhaps they all cave again ... but this event has the potential to flip the right wing GOP narrative on its head.

The like to play the race card around the edges ... this makes it front and center ... where they can not win the discussion.

3. It's easier to abuse and destroy the WH---since they hate the WH.
This is why you see reporters pushing to know the liaison in HR and of course the ultimate question, "So you're saying that The President, MR. Barack Obama, Obama was not aware of this?!" How many times and ways can this be asked?!

4. I don't think I heard Breitbart's name once on CNN this afternoon.
there was Sanchez all cheesey about how CNN didn't jump on the false video like everyone else, puffing and strutting like the big ignorant machismo galoot he is.

and Gurglin' was almost all teary eyed comparing Sherrod's experience to Nelson Mandela's (as Frenchie pointed out, cuz guess they're both black!!!!) and each one of course represents their whole race with whatever action is taken/done!!! Just like George Bush, and how he was continully being called out as representin' the white folk race during his prouder (? can't think of one) and not so proud moments. *ugh.

Blitzer is all breathy with the story now too but I just can't handle his airwaves anymore so tune him out on autopilot now.

Gurglin' is gurgling now again. Tellin Obama how to do that presidentin' thing.

:puke:

7. They used to have these same moments with Drudge
and then, after they realized they'd been pulled around by the noses and got in a snit, they'd magically have amnesia and follow the next "BREAKING....." story.

They don't have any scruples, let alone balls.

8. I saw on CNN he was questioning as to whether
the lady with Mr. Spooner was his wife. He said did anybody check, she didn't look like his wife.

How can this be...he comes out and says....he only received the part of the tape that has Shirley Sherrod talking about discrimination. He says he didn't see the tape where she is talking to the NAACP about the Spooners. How in the hell does he THINK he knows what Spooners wife should look like if he didn't see the whole tape. CAN ANYBODY ANSWER THAT ONE.

12. The only balls the mainstream media cares about...
...are Eyeballs.
In front of their advertisements.
And stories like this one bring in the eyeballs.
Not only that, but stories like this make people feel like shit.
About themselves, their government and everything else.
Which is exactly the state that makes them susceptible to want to go out and buy whatever crap the advertisers are throwing up in front of their eyeballs.

The only way to make this stop, is to quit giving them your eyeballs!

16. Corpmedia long ago decided guys like Breitbart are good, and real reporters like Rather & Parry are
BAD. The fascists didn't buy control of all the available newsmedia in the 80s and 90s for nothing.

17. Bingo! If Rather had pulled this shit, he would have been arrested by now
Breitbart, however, is a good friend with Matt Drudge. There's a bad image to mull over.
