With the Supreme Court tilting further to the right, Jeff Greenfield sees the possibility of a major battle in the next couple years that "is going to make the political wars of the recent past look like models of bipartisan civility."

"This possibility rests on two assumptions: First, that Republicans will make significant gains in the Senate this November; Second, that between January of next year and Election Day 2012, one of the five conservative Supreme Court justices will leave the court."

"The impact of an Obama-chosen justice replacing a conservative on the Court would be far, far more consequential than Sotomayor for Souter or Kagan for Stevens. And that means that the confirmation struggle is likely to go 'nuclear.'"

3. The Justices is, IMO, the most important responsibility a President has.

Justices can sit on the bench for decades (Roberts is only 55). Certain "activist" judges will force the Bush/Cheney viewpoint onto us for many years. We can only hope that we have a President who pushes back for some balance and not just aim for the middle.

Certainly Roberts is a fascist --

he was large part of Bush's 2000 legal moves --

including the GOP-sponsored fascist rally to stop the vote counting in Miamai Dade

County Election HQ's ---

And, then there's the pervert Clarence Thomas who made it onto the Court because of

Biden's betrayal of the lawyers representing Prof. Anita Hill and the witnesses who

would have testified against Thomas and about his constant sexual comments at the EEOC --
