Russ in trouble..
from TPM..

A new Rasmussen poll of the Wisconsin Senate race shows incumbent Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold trailing Republican Ron Johnson, the frontrunner in the September 14 GOP Senate primary. The poll gives Johnson a narrow 48%-46% lead.

Recent polling has also shown the race to be tight. A Rasmussen survey from two weeks ago put Johnson ahead by one point, while a Magellan survey from July 12 showed Feingold up two.

Against Republican Dave Westlake, a long shot for the Republican nomination, Feingold fares better. The latest Rasmussen survey shows the Democrat leading Westlake 49%-39%.

The TPM Poll Average now gives Johnson a 48.5%-46.4% edge over Feingold, who in turn is up 48.3%-39.1% over Westlake. The margin of error for the latest Rasmussen survey is ±4.0 percentage points.

I know it's Rasmussen but it's not far off from other recent polling. I guess we should assume the problem is that Russel is not being "progressive" enough.

2. He's not getting things done that help working Americans
Two parts to that:

1. Proposing things that help working Americans
2. Getting them done

He's half way there.

3. And now Russ has to explain why he voted in favor of the Wall Street status quo.
We know it's close - I'll be watching for a more reputable poll to corroborate or refute (R)asmussen.

4. Some of the conservative/independents probably liked the idea he collaborated with the GOP..
to block FinReg.. but he probably also pissed off a bunch of others at the same time. Russ is in a bit of a quandary.

8. A meaningless showing of "independence"
That the voters in WI apparently see right through.

5. As somebody from WI who can actually vote for Feingold, I'm not worried at this point.
It's early and Feingold is well liked here. He votes his conscience and does what he thinks is right and he is not a lock-step Liberal and here that is a good thing. I know Republicans who will even vote for him like they did for Proxmire.

7. why would you turn this into an attack on the progressive wing of DU?
Edited on Fri Jul-30-10 08:11 AM by Warren Stupidity
Are you hoping Feingold loses so you can score some points here?

11. Its not an attack.. maybe a little sarcasm aimed at people like you..
who insist the Democrat's problems are all a result of not being "progresssive" enough.

12. offs be honest at least - yet another attack from you.
and you are positively gloating that Feingold, who last I heard is running as a Democrat, is in a tight race.

So your 'solidarity' extends only to Democrats you approve of.

enough to answer a poll?

16. It's been hot and rainy in that part of the Great Lakes
states, and the Packers haven't even begun to dominate the pre-season headlines yet.

As soon as the temps fall a bit and the first hints of cool autumn air blow through, I think Russ Feingold wipes the floor with this Johnson guy.

18. Johnson and Westlake are just beginning to blow each other up and Russ can watch
Johnson came out with some crap about gun ownership and how he doesn't own a gun that Westlake will appeal to the Repig base with.

They will shoot at each other for a month and a half and essentially allow Russ to sit back and watch them give him ammo on whoever wins the primary.

Don't underestimate Russ.
