SC Mayors endorse Sheheen for governor
http://www.thestate.com/2010/08/24/1432109/mayors-endorse-sheheen-for-governor.html

Columbia mayor Steve Benjamin joined 30 other South Carolina mayors in endorsing the candidacy of Democratic gubernatorial nominee Vincent Sheheen.

The Camden state senator is more likely to listen and work with local officials, some of those mayors said at a Columbia press conference. Sheheen said he wanted to repair a “frayed” relationship between the governor’s office and local government.

“Not only was he willing to listen, but he was willing to understand the issues,” said Greer mayor Rick Danner of meeting with Sheheen several years ago. “This is just wanting to have a seat at the table.”

Most of the mayors are elected in nonpartisan elections, though Benjamin has run statewide as a Democrat. Danner said he voted twice for outgoing Gov. Mark Sanford.

1. SC is a oppressive and depressive state. I was born and raised there.
The beaches are nice but the up country is run by powerful racists that use code language and ideology to suppress people.
I know this from personal experience. Good luck to electing a Democrat Governor.

2. Which is exactly why some of them endorsing the Democrat
He's a white, Christian male. His opponent is female, Indian, and was raise a Sihk. Lots of them question her conversion to Christianity. But, racism and ideology are not the only things in play here. It also doesn't help Hayley that she's a protege of Mark Sanford. Nor, does her association with The Dipstick in Lipstick. She was also delinquent paying her taxes several years in a row, which kind of destroys that GOP meme that only Democrats don't pay their taxes. It shall be interesting to see how many reoygs vote on the basis of racism/sexism than are slaves to their right-wing ideology.

3. Now, you know that there's always a double standard here. As long as she has an "R" after her name..
the rules don't apply. Apparently, she can commit adultery, not pay taxes, fake Christianity, or like "Dipshit in Lipstick," tank an economy...and STILL prevail. Ask David Vitter! The fact that he hasn't paid politically for his sins speaks volumes.
