9. So your solution is to sit on your thumbs and bitch that no one's listening to you.
Golfclap.

2. Because it worked so well in the past. We stopped the Iraq war by
demonstrating, we've gotten GLBTs rights by demonstrating,. .. . /sarcasm.

Seriously, do you think it would help? MSM wouldn't cover it, or if they did they'd spin it into something negative, the WH won't listen or pay attention to us, or worse yet will use it as an excuse to demean us again, the corporations and rich will outspend us to get their way.

Y'know I'd be there with bells on if I thought it did the left any good, but it doesn't. Only old, white, rich people count in the USA anymore.

3. Perhaps too many have become fat and comfortable, after all this is not the 1960s and 70s anymore.
Those boomers sure did know how to protest back then though.

4. You don't protest one of your own. Plus working through advocacy groups
would probably do more than a protest.

5. Because it causes more problems than it solves.
It's a bit like that Bush parody where he steals cable from the neighbor and explains to Laura that it's his way of "sticking it to the man"... only to hear her remind him "But George... you are the man"

When your party controls Congress and the WH... who will people assume that are you protesting?

6. We certainly are, but it is not covered by national media.

We are back into the 21st century version of the 1920s, with the working class under assault, our republic going the way of the Weimar Republic, and with fascism on the rise.

Here is what Hoosier progressives did recently:

Coming up, we will demonstrating alongside the workers of a local grocery chain that are trying to unionize.

7. Because they can't agree on what to demonstrate about.
You see Animal rights is way more important than....
No, wait. Global warming is what we need to be concerned abou....
Forget that, we need to save the whales....
Gay marriage is the real issue here. Until we....
No, no no! We have to get out of Iraq and Afghanistan before anything else, or ...
None of that matters if we don't get decent health care in the ....

What about gun control? That's got to be the most important issue we have goi....
No. It's the whole system of taxation that gives all the breaks to the rich. What we really need is ...

Democrats/liberals/progressives are not a group or a movement with a single goal, or even a reasonable number of shared goals. Democrats/liberals/progressives are a loose coalition of widely disparate special interest groups who, in large measure, don't give a crap about what YOUR issue is because THEIR issue is what really matters.

The only time they pull in the same direction is when they are facing a common enemy like the good old days when The Shrub was president.
