42. I guess I missed the promise to
NOT CUT SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS, or any support for Unions other than speachifyin'. Did he say the words "Employee Free Choice Act?" No really I might have missed it.

7. Well... it was carried live
on all three news channels (yes, Fox too, I checked), it will be covered in the news, so I would say yes, there most definitely was a speech. Negative much?

19. I didn't see it, either. Didn't know about it.
But then I've been avoiding watching the news. Trying to find work for the past 16 months is depressing enough.

37. Same here ...
.... it's really hard to even watch all the blah-blah-yay-rah anymore and then having to translate it into 'what it will really look like if/when it's ever passed into law' knowing full well the folks in the back rooms are going to drive the agenda, not us average folks in the street.

14. compare this opening to
that of Gov of Az. Named names, did his homework. Knew what he needed to say and who he needed to acknowledge. Plenty of names to memorize. I can't even keep my kids straight.

21. Ha ha ha- My parents were the same way
Five kids- we kids all knew who each other was.

Sometimes my parents would run down the name of kids from oldest to youngest until they got the right one.

Or there was always: "You- which one are you?"

27. and that's the problem
He knows what to say to fire people up, but where is card check? What has he done to help Unions? I remember how he nominated a union-buster to be his education secretary, how he taxed union health plans that people negotiated for, I remember his chief of staff and other anonymous staffers deriding and attacking unions...but this speech makes up for it?

It's a good speech, he's a brilliant speaker. I figured that one out in 2004.

But where's the beef?

29. Yes they do, such as the ending of the recession and the reversal of job loss
?

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_mHSyEv8vBt4/TIKJmVIq8xI/AAAAAAAAAFI/AInWHvWVIxA/s400/New+Picture.jpg?

9 of the last 10 recessions occurred under Republican economic policy, including George W. Bush’s “Great Recession,” the deepest economic downturn since Hoover’s “Great Depression” of 1929. President Obama has not only halted the staggering job loss of over 780,000 per month he inherited from George W. Bush but President Obama’s “Bubble Up Economic” policies has reached positive increase in monthly job creation with unmatched speed.

30. We heard lots of rousing and stirring speeches during the 2008 campaign.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating and not talking about how good the pudding will be or should be.

I can't help but think of that lines:

"For of all sad words of tongue or pen,
The saddest are these: "It might have been!"
—John Greenleaf Whittier, American poet, Maud Muller, 1854

Hell, he did it for 2 years during his Presidential Campaign. He can surely do it for two months.

Only this time may he actually put some good left leaning policies into place at the same time.

I mean, things could get worse. Many liberals and Democrats are making those predictions.

I hope not, but with two years left, it's still a little early for me.
