NYT: Obama will not extend Bush era tax cuts to wealthy
President Obama will rule out on Wednesday any compromise that would extend the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy beyond this year, officials said, adding a populist twist to an election-season economic package that is otherwise designed to entice support from big businesses and their Republican allies.

15. It's good that he rejects Orszag's craziness
But it's going to be nearly impossible for him to craft a tax bill that leaves the under $250K folks alone, while doing what needs to be done to the well-off. If that's the case, then let the whole set of Bush tax cuts expire.

16. I hope he sticks to his guns on this, and not fold like he did on the PO.
He can keep the pressure on and push this through the mid-terms. I doubt he will get a bill before then, but after the mid-terms he can see the shape of Congress.

Even if rethugs win, he should still be able to bully them into passing tax cuts for the working class.

Barack usually says something admirable on the front side of issues, but then immediately starts caving on this issue.

I no longer trust his words, but judge him on his actions only.

If he vetoes a bill that includes cuts for the wealthy, or only signs one that doesn't have it, only then will I believe his stand.
