The Plumline: President Obama unveils a new healthcare website designed to educate voters on the law
Obama to celebrate health reform's six month anniversary: President Obama is set to do a slew of events today celebrating the six month anniversary of the passage of health reform. How long until anonymous skittish Dems run to the media to grouse that talking about health reform at all is going to destroy their hopes in the midterms?

The Obama events today include the unveiling of a new Web site designed to educate voters on the law and a visit by Obama to a private home in Virginia, where he will meet with a chronically ill individual and discuss the law's benefits.

1. That should have been up six months ago, the Democrats sat
back and let the Republicans trash the bill with no response.

2. There is a
site up and running.

There is nothing wrong with putting this out there to draw attention to new provisions and to dispell myths.

3. Hope this helps, but do think the administration could have done a better job selling healthcare.

4. They can always do a better job

Do you think it would matter to the people who hate the bill?

Also, the bill did make gains in popularity between May and July.

The disinformation is strong and the polls will fluctuate, but it will become more popular over time.

7. As you are aware, it's not just Republicans who have doubts about the healthcare bill.
We need to be honest with ourselves on this, if we are to move forward.

10. Two points:
1) It's mostly Republicans

2) There is bound to be doubts, but that should not prevent anyone from moving forward, which means recognizing that Republicans are the problem is key.

14. And we prolly should ...
distinguish between republican "disagreement" with any healthcare bill and "disagreement from the left. One would result in a stronger bill; whereas, the other would result in No bill.

9. You just encountered Algorithm #62
If...Democrats do something good
Then...Complain that they didn't do it sooner
Else...Complain about what they are not doing

6. Do you think ...

That Team Obama recognizes the attention span of the American public is about 15 seconds, but can be extended to about 6 weeks with constant messaging?

Putting it up now ... with about a month before the mid-terms ... they are betting that the can hold the public's attention going into the polls.

I think the timing is brilliant!

12. Good luck with that. Most Americans are too lazy to read anything.
If you want them to hear you, you have to look directly into their eyes and scream at them. Then they might hear you. It seems to work for Beck, Limbaugh and the Fox crew.

We've learned that if you speak with calm and reason, they're think you're professorial and can't understand anything that is said in a lower volume than a shriek.
