Grants totaling $508.5 million will go toward construction of facilities and to speed adoption of electronic health-record technology at health centers in more than 30 states, the administration said in a statement.
“The awards are expected to not only create new job opportunities in construction and health care, but also help provide care for more than half a million additional patients in underserved communities,” Obama said in the statement.
The funds come from the $787 billion economic stimulus approved by Congress and signed by Obama in February to combat rising unemployment and spur economic growth.
