Only one third of Democrats see this Congress' achievements as historic
What if the Dem base's lack of enthusiasm is rooted in the fact that Dems aren't even aware of how much Congress has accomplished in the last two years?

Yet despite passing an enormous stimulus that many credit with rescuing us from disaster, passing health reform after a half century of failure, rescuing the auto industry, and successfully completing the biggest overhaul of Wall Street regulations since the Great Depresssion, only one third of Democrats think this Congress has achieved more than other recent ones.

Maybe this speaks to an enormous Dem failure to communicate their successes. Or maybe it's another sign of how bloated expectations were amid the euphoria of Obama's win. Or perhaps the sense of just how monumental our problems are -- and the fact that Dems secured such large Congressional majorities -- led rank and file Dems to expect truly historic, paradigm shifting levels of leadership. Whichever it is, these numbers shed fascinating new light on the enthusiasm gap problem. Just wow.

2. Maybe you see something not there?
HCR wasn't much of an achievement compared to the historical record of Medicare, medicaid, schip, etc. Sad truth is that medicare part D affected more people.

The stiumulus was way too small and over promised.

The banking bill didn't fix the problem of too big to fail.

2 wars still going on.

Gitmo still going strong.

No one prosecuted for torture.

Maybe, just maybe, 2/3 of democrats see something you've missed.

Nah, that can't be it can it.

3. the media is complicit too
Every time someone claims the dems don't sell or trumpet their accomplishments, it is affected by this factor. The media will not trumpet Dem triumphs. It will immediately go to the critics and disaffected. Not so for Repuke "triumphs."

5. YEP ...
The droopy dog crap floating around here, HCR was epic ... Short of that was ideal, of course ... But this admin/congress got done what Clinton was not able to do, and what presidents in the 50s and 60s wanted to do and didn't get done, heck, Nixon even gave it serious thought ... This provides the platform for further movement on this front, something to build from ... Whereas before it was just one big wild west out there ...

This alone was a monumental achievement, and the media has completely just swept it under the carpet, whilve giving ENDLESS air to every nonsensical, hairbrained crape the wingers threw against the wall - see death panels ...

And, sorry, the bank/finance reform bill was VERY strong ... A DARN good bill, but the corporate media ain't touting a bill that corporations aren't too enthused with ...

This has been an exceptional year and 8 months, exceptional, and as noted, all the media does is tout the disaffected and whatever nonsense the wingers come with ...

6. NO historical memory.
'Fault' of our times, so much information, so little context.
