Texas "Birther" Threatens To Assassinate Obama
Texas "Birther" Threatens To Assassinate Obama

<snip>

William Mattison, a 70 year-old Amarillo resident, recently wrote an angry e-mail to U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon). The e-mail expressed Mattison's anger that President Obama had not released his "long-form Hawaiian birth certificate" (the short form, verified by the State of Hawaii, is shown above). But Mattison wasn't content with expressing his anger, which is his constitutional right.

He went a step further and in the last line of the e-mail he threatened to assassinate President Obama. He said he was "considering assassinating" the president, and doing so would fulfill the oath he took when he entered the Air Force in 1958.

<snip>

I know there will probably be some who think charges should not be entered against Mattison because of his age. I am not one of those. I think he should be charged, convicted and sent to a federal prison for five years. He knew what he was doing was against the law and intentionally did it anyway. If he's not charged this time, he might actually try to harm the president to get his show trial.

This "birther" nonsense has gone too far. The president has already gone further than any previous president by authorizing the release of the short-form birth certificate, and the state of Hawaii has verified its authenticity. There is no doubt to any reasonable person that President Obama was born in the United States. Frankly, the whole mess is starting to stink of racism to me.

21. Me three. Like other cover issues, the Birther crap is just code
to say this black outsider has no business in the White House.

To another comment in the OP, if this idiot has the faculties to express a desire to assassinate the President and can still pull a trigger, he should be charged.

And yes this jackass should be charged and tried. Prison works for me. Anyone who threatens to assassinate a president deserves to get everything he's got coming to him.

29. Always has been. I wonder if they even think Hawaii is not "really" a state...
... since it's all full of brown people and stuff. :eyes:

Plus: there IS no "long form" birth certificate. What you see is what you get. From what I've read, the Hawai'i Department of Health got rid of all the paper files after the information was computerized. My kids were born there -- their birth certs look just like Obama's.

The whole Birther conspiracy thing just reeks.

It's gotten so bad the DOH has put the Obama issue at the top of its Vital Records page online.

i am just kidding of course. i'm more inclined to think these people don't think hawaii is a state. they sure seem like the ones who probably skipped that part of school.

2. I'm with you. Send his ass to prison.
And yes, of course it is all about racism - every time they talk about the birth certificate, the "Chicago-style politics", the "he's not one of us" BS, and the "take back our country" BS. All of that shit is code for the one word they're dying to call him. :puke:

10. They will never go away, since the RimJob of Freeperville and Joe Farah of
WND have figured out that there are sizeable minority of dumbshite white folks who will pay, donate, and otherwise open the coffers to fund this crap---

Look, the 'birther' meme is an all-purpose money-maker, uniting the anti-government types, the racists, the neo-populists, the neo-cons, and the just plain stupid. It won't go away.

8. The oath of office I took in 1957 as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy did not include bumping
off any president of my choice and I am confident Mr. Mattison's did not either. One wonders if his racist slip and anger are showing. :patriot:

18. "Considering"!
There are dozens of individuals in prison because they attended terrorist training camps in the middle east. It was enough to convict these people strictly on the premise that they were contemplating ("considering") carrying out terrorist attacks, but hadn't as yet when arrested and tried.

20. Remember the guy who did time for joking about a "burning Bush"?

Tuesday, November 11,2003
Threatening the president is no joke, even when it is one
... Richard Humphreys, happened to get into a harmless barside discussion with a truck driver. A bartender who overheard the conversation realized that Bush was scheduled to visit nearby Sioux Falls the next day, and he told police that Humphreys–who made a joke with a biblical reference–had talked about a "burning Bush" and the possibility of someone pouring a flammable liquid on Bush and lighting it. Humphreys was arrested for threatening the president. "I said God might speak to the world through a burning Bush," he testified during his trial. "I had said that before and I thought it was funny." Nevertheless, he was found guilty and sentenced to more than three years in prison ...

23. Sonofabitch sure wasn't "tired of" it when Shrub
refused to produce the military records from the time he went AWOL. But we know what rule applied in that case: IOKIYAR. Everything's OKIYAR, including war crimes, theft of the treasury, rape and torture, every sort of depravity, you name it.

Double standards. It's what make repugs repugnant.

33. I suspect that a disproportionately high number of birthers
are ex-military in their 70's and 80's. The Civil Rights era passed them by muttering in their beards, and they have the authoritarian mindset the military imbues in wanting to 'fulfill their oath' by getting rid of the President. After all, these are demographically the strongest Fox viewers.
