How can someone make "early voting" into a negative??

How can someone make "early voting" into a negative??
It seems to me if you can get more folks to vote early than your opponent, then that would be a good thing? I am confused by those that try to portray it as a negative. Somehow, if they did not get as many "early voters" as in the previous election, it does not bode well on election day? This point is made mostly in reference to Democratic voters.

Does it really mean there will be less Democrats voting on election day? I fail to see the logic?

Also, I just heard a former Congressman say that most folks have already made up their minds how they are going to vote? That may be true with most of us, but traditionally, many folks do not make up their minds until 3 or 4 days left in the campaign. I would venture that this will be one of those elections where a lot of people will make a decision at the last minute? We may see more upsets than usual?
