HI-#1 POLL: (D) Hanabusa 50, (R) Djou 45
Civil Beat Poll: Hanabusa Has Edge in 1st Congressional District
By John Temple 10/27/2010

Round II of Djou vs. Hanabusa is tight, but the Democrat appears positioned to take back the seat, according to a new Civil Beat poll.

Colleen Hanabusa is up 49.5 percent to 45.3 against against incumbent 1st District Congressman Charles Djou, an automated telephone poll of 620 likely voters found. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 3.9 percent.

"This is one of the few seats that Democrats can reasonably expect to flip nationwide," said Matt Fitch, executive director of Merriman River Group, which conducted the poll on Oct. 23 through its Hawaii subsidiary, Aloha Vote.

2. My View
Winning this seat could be a sign rather Democrats can keep the House.I am not suggesting It will come to this seat to decide which
party has majority In the House In Januaray but beating Djou would be sign Democrats will lose some seats but keep the House. And
If we can win a few seats then Republicans need over 40 seats.Remember any Republican seat going to Democrats makes it harder for
them.

4. We can win some GOP seats on Nov 2
this one, the seat in LA and DE-at large. Plus there may be one or two others. Anything that pushes the number of pick ups the GOP needs up from 39.

5. Never heard the poll before
The most recent poll taken by Hawaii Star Advertise, which endorsed Hanbusa, is showing Djou is leading by 3 points. I think Djou will win narrowly this time and be defeated in 2012.

6. I have heard of Merriman River Group. They have done some polling for House seats
this cycle. Are they accurate? Haven't been around long enough yet.
