Is this a worthwhile tactic?
Assume President Obama will be our Presidential Candidate in 2012.

Why not register Republican and vote for Palin in the Primary?

Just a thought.

1. The main reason would be that there might be other Dem primaries you want to vote in
You can't vote for primary andidates in both parties.

2. The ONLY downside is that to switch reg. to vote for her, you will then be unable to vote for real
Democrats "down-ticket" (if there are any) to take out the dogs and DINOs.

3. In other words, Operation Chaos
Rush Limbo's creation in the 2008 Democratic primaries. It may have put Hillary over the top in the Indiana and Texas primaries.

rather than succumb to the gutter tactics promoted previously by Limbaugh, I chose to respect and honor my right to vote.

6. You do not have to bother. If Palin enters, she can most
likely win the nomination. She would most likely win
Iowa all the races from Iowa to S.C. It is difficult
for anyone to stop her after that.

I will continue to be registered as a DEM. I'm hoping a decent candidate runs against Obama in the primaries. That candidate will almost certainly not defeat Obama, but I like to have options. That's what democracy is about.

11. Wow! thanks for your admission as to what you'd like to see happen to Obama in 2012!
I'll bookmark it, just in case enough people think like you and are around to watch
the end of the Democratic party at that time....because I'll tell you what,
being that extremely politically stupid and admit to it is quite remarkable.

should face primary challenges. That's what democracy is about. If someone thinks they can do a better job, they run. May the best man or woman win.

7. No.
This is the same country that is about to give us Senator Marco Teabagger Rubio, probably Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Randy Head-stomper Paul and Round 2 of Gov. Headless Jan Brewer, and quite possibly Sharon Angle, among others. Not to mention that the likes of Michelle Bachmann, Virginia Foxx, Jean Schmidt, Marcia Blackburn, Jim DeMented, Joke Wilson, and a host of other lunatics will likely be returning to their seats. This country is getting nuttier and more ignorant by the minute. Couple that with unlimited corporate spending, and having "Candidate Palin" could be one huge, unmitigated disaster. Why risk it? Unless, of course, the country's attitude toward the President and his party changes in the next year or so.

8. Until every last electronic "voting" machine is smashed to bits
you should be very careful who you choose as Repuke nominee.

13. The main problem is that you would have to VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN.
I have always resisted such suggested tactics.

This was unethical when the Republicans did it as part of "operation chaos" and it is unethical now. Also, what happens if he gets the nomination and the immensely rich corporations are able to tilt the field enough that she wins. Would you then be happy you helped her?

One think I am going by is that I remember being happy that Bush, not McCain, won because Gore could beat Bush - but McCain was such a media favorite - and Gore wasn't - that I thought it was good. (This was partially hearing some moderate/liberal friends considering McCain.

16. Why is it unethical?
You are entitled to vote in any election you are legally
entitled to vote in, and here in NH, Republicans come into
our Democratic Primary all time to "help" us choose the
lousiest Presidential candidates.

18. I didn't say it was illegal
Just because the republicans do it too does not mean that it is right. I would not think it unethical if you were voting for the republican that you thought would make the better official. I just worry that it could lead to actually helping someone - Palin - who would be a disaster.
