Olbermann stopping ‘Worst Person in the World’ segment
Edited on Mon Nov-01-10 09:38 PM by playstation
Say it ain’t so, Keith! Say it ain’t so!

Countdown host Keith Olbermann, in a fit of (toned-down) pique at Jon Stewart’s false equivalence of MSNBC with Fox News, announced tonight that he is “suspending” the “Worst Persons in the World” segment, with an eye toward killing it. To many of the show’s viewers, this is the best part of the show, and equating its elimination with taking the high road misses the point entirely. Don’t kill “Worst Persons,” just be the better person....

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/rally-to-restore-worst-persons-in-the-world/

“The anger in this news hour was not an original part of it, nor was it an artifice that we added to it. It was a response to a threat to this democracy posed by Bush.”

Don't stop it Keith!

1. It is, without question, the WORST part of the show.

Pun intended.

Good on him.

13. totally agree.....
my least favorite part of KO...
found something else to do when the segment was on...

Glad the KO thought about Jon's underlying message.

16. Me, I could do without Oddball.
To each his or her own, I guess.

But yeah, this is the proper response to Stewart, to take his advice to heart.

6. Agreed, but we don't have to make KO "Ironman" now that he's done everything he can do.
Jon and Barack are going to kill us all with anxiety attacks, but if we are going to bring this country back together, we gotta tone it down.

I also agree, that KO helped us (Dems) immeasurably and should go down in history like Edward R. Murrow.

11. Sounds like introspection, and changing one's behaviors...
...based on new information, or repackaging of time tested info. In other words, skills long since ossified on the Right.

3. Actually, although I'll miss it,
I can see where it's time to retire that segment. Sometimes lately I feel as if they're reaching too hard for the Worst Person. It was highly amusing a couple of years ago when he had the feud going with O'Reilly.

It may well be revived if the R's gain control of Congress and start in with the expected shenanigans.

10. Good. I hate when our side keeps showing the assholes
I don't care how stupid they are and what they do, I simply DO NOT want to see it when I tune into Keith or Rachel or Randi or whoever.

Good.

17. This is fucked up. I'm sorry, but this was one of the few times
that we got to see Repub HYPOCRISY live.

Maybe he kind a different way of showing it, or has he been told to shut it down by the corporate ownership.

21. Repubs are Happy -- Now they can continue to attack with Even Less Call outs.
But at least our side is happy KO is taking the high road even if repubs can now continue to manipulate people by making even more false attacks with even less call outs such as what normally happened with "Worst Person".

Sure we as democrats will always show up at a knife fight with an instruction manual and end up losing every time, but at least we can wake up bruised and bloodied and say at least we were the bigger man by showing restraint -- even if everything collapses around us. So let them have their way because when they get mean we should just take our ball and go home.

Bravo!

22. Keith needs far more variety of guests and contributors...
Alter, Robinson, Wolfe et al. are on almost every single night, night in and night out...

If you are changing the show Keith, do more investigative reporting and exposes and less interviews with Howards - Dean and or Fineman.

25. I suspect this is only temporary.
If the Repukes take over Congress, there is going to be a need for new daily nominations to the Worst Persons list.

I hope this is not a sign that KO is turning into a big candy ass. I don't think I'll watch his show anymore if it comes to that. I'll give him a chance though & see what happens. I love to see repigs acting stupid & awful, which is what they generally do.

I like Rachel, but she's ultimately too sweet. I like someone with an edge, and I just don't want to hear that they're trying to "bring the country together." It ain't gonna happen.
