Poll question: GOTV - poll
Have you voted yet?

(If you're not planning to vote, please tell us why so we can try to convince you to get your butt to the polls. :))

1. Although I think most people here are going to vote, and those that aren't have
pretty much made up their minds, I'm with you -- Let's give it one more shot to ask for their help. :patriot:

3. Thanks, I figure it doesn't hurt to try...
This morning I went to a local restaurant for breakfast after voting and convinced a fellow lifelong Dem activist to go to the polls. He's been very disappointed with the party and hadn't planned to bother this year, but I reminded him that the Ledbetter bill alone was worth the trip. One more vote for the team!

7. Oooh -- good one! It's a bit discouraging that a Dem activist wasn't going to
vote, I know he'll feel better now that he did.

12. He's been working for 40+ years and is finally fed up with Dems...
Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 01:10 PM by polichick
I don't blame him - it's hard to see how the change we long for will come through this party, but I'll still vote for Dems until there's something better that has a chance.

Happy Election Day!

On edit: This activist's big issues are peace and civil rights - he's really freaked about the continuing wars and loss of rights due to Patriot Act, etc.

8. For the past two days, I've been making calls for my congressman...
The ones that send me over the edge are those who say that they're going to vote but say that they still haven't made up their minds. WTF?! And then when I ask if I can answer any questions, they indignantly say no and hang up... And these are supposed to be supporters that I'm calling, to remind them to go to the polls. It's been frustrating. :(

However, the biggest problem seems to be that people are getting testy because they've been inundated with TV ads, mailings and calls. But the few I've managed to convince, including one 79-year-old who didn't think he could vote because he didn't vote in the primary, have been worth it, since it's going to be very close here. *fingers crossed* :)

5. It's early here.
We just woke up a little bit ago, and it's not even light yet. Plus we got our first snow overnight. It's not much, shouldn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm. We'll be heading down to vote within the next hour.

9. Snow! Ugg. It is getting colder here in Connecticut but no snow yet.
It was freezing for Halloween this year but tons of people still came out. I hope the snow doesn't deter anyone but living in Alaska you guys must be used to it.

10. I heard on the news that this was the first snow for AK, but they assured
us all you folks wouldn't even blink an eye. I was thinking that heavens Seattle is all mail-in now, if we have one flake the city and life comes to a screeching halt.

Happy voting! :hi:

14. We don't let a little snow stop us.
I was just remembering the year the Sarah Palin was elected governor, 2006, the temperature was right around zero and we were all out for hours sign-waving. I've protested the war when it was in the 10s with 30 mph winds. We're tough up here.

11. I'm canvassing today for my congressman
So I'm planning to vote sometime during my travels, the earlier the better, before it gets crowded. Turnout is supposed to be heavy, which I'm hoping is a good thing for us. *fingers crossed* :)

22. Thanks! Just as long as nobody stomps on my head...
I've been making GOTV calls for my congressman (Scott Murphy NY-20) and folks are getting pretty testy out there, with all the TV ads, mailings and calls. But it's going to be close, so I need to do what I can... :hi:
