This is fast turning in to a blood bath

4. It's completely the opposite of a "blood bath"
Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 08:46 PM by tridim
It's a wimpy semi-win, with the bonus of a 2-year GOP civil war.

The GOP is losing to historical mid-term trends.

7. I think you are right
as most of all the other pollsters have stated.

After reading the pollsters from both sides of the aisle. After reading Democratic/Republican political pundits comments on the polling I will say it doesn't look good.

Most polls are closed, if not all, so this craziness by some posters that I'm influencing the outcome is dumb.

It looks like 60-65 House pickups for the Republicans. 5-6 Senate seats. And it looks good for the Republican Governorships.

Someone posted this earlier, which I didn't really pay any attention to, but it also doesn't look good for the next decade.

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2010/11/02/the_real_prize_redistricting.html

The Real Prize: Redistricting

Nick Baumann: "Forget the Senate and House. That's short-term thinking. The real prize in Tuesday's midterm elections is the power to draw congressional seats and determine the country's balance of power for the next decade."

"If either party can achieve what politicos call the 'trifecta' -- control of the governorship and both chambers of the state legislature -- in a given state, it will be able to draw congressional districts within that state unencumbered by any need to compromise with the other party. That's the kind of power that creates electoral maps like the one former GOP Majority Leader Tom Delay helped bring to Texas in 2003 -- a map that pushed four of the state's Democrats out of their seats."

8. The house isn't toogreat, yes, but lets see how the senate goes
and some of these governor races before saying the night is a disaster.

9. I don't think it is a blood bath. We were expected to lose some, if we lose less than the media is
hoping and we hold the Senate that is good.

10. I honestly don't see
losing the Senate. From what I understand now, the Republicans have lost some earlier Senate seats that they thought they were going to pick-up, therefore, making it so that the Republicans would pretty well have to win every Senate contests that are left.

I guess anything is possible, but I see that as winning the Lotta in back to back weeks. A serious, very serious, long shot. That's my take on it.
