I think we should just give the White House to the GOP in 2012.......
and just cut to the chase, cause I can already see, reading DU,
that we will be working hard toward that result anyway.
So why have to do all of that work.....when we can just concede now?
It will save money and anxiety.

I'm really sick and tired of all of the ire being only aimed at this President,
from so many Democrats....while we willingly allow the media to give it to us
in the ass every single day....

2. yep....sad, but evident.
Plus we laugh at Republicans, instead of taking them seriously and strategizing in a serious way.

3. You really think there's any shortage...
of outrage at the media on here? I'd say outrage at the media outweighs every other subject by a long shot.

The problem is that none of us are getting booked on talk shows. None of us can have press conferences. None of us are getting interviewed. And none of us can pass or vote on any legislation.

So we can send all the e-mails and letters to the media we want. We can start all the angry threads on message boards that we want. But until the dems call twice as many press conferences as the republicans, until they get twice as aggressive when being interviewed as republicans are, until they stop getting on television and agreeing with republicans or playing nice or calling for "reaching across the aisle" while the other side is calling for stabbing us in the back.....then pretty much until then we have no choice but to hold elected democrats feet to the fire.

We have no power over the media other than our viewership and our letters which they obviously don't give a shit about. And we have no power over Republicans beyond just never voting for them. All we have is a small, slight ability to yell at "our side" and get them to (hope and pray) that they do what they need to do to fight back.

4. We could have power over the media......
but that would take too much work and organizing.....and we'd rather sit back,
claim helplessness and dog out our own. Sounds like a strategy that I suggest
we skip and just hand the WH to the Republicans......

15. Like what?
Seriously? What do you propose? None of us have any huge amount of stock in any of these media companies? They've made it clear they don't care about protests or boycotts.

So I'm definitely all ears and eyes.

And also out of curiosity do the actual, you know...politicians who actually go on these shows bear any culpability at all for either going on the shows and giving them credibility OR their piss poor performances when they go on there? Or do you really believe that if they continued doing everything they are currently doing that there is something that we can do that will powerfully and magically counteract that?

7. Yep...idiots everywhere!
At this point, I think I'll sit back and watch the fools finish us off.
That's what they wanted all along anyway, and worked hard on this
everyday....in fact, many are still posting.

8. DU's ability to follow the professional Left down the path of doom
is all that is needed, IMO.

The media will pounce on it and spread it throughout.

9. Exactly
But this poster continues to blame a message board for all of the country's problems, while the majority of the people on DU are actually the ones who voted, went door-to-door, made calls, put up signs, encouraged friends, etc, etc, etc,......but go ahead, blame DU.

12. The many Posts I read at DU stated that they did not support this President,
weren't going to donate to Democratic Organizations, were not going to donate to Obama again,
and were willing to make sure he is primaried. In fact, you were one of those who stated
that he needed to be primaried, so I'm not sure why you are now talking about all of the work
that was done, like you did any of it.

As for blaming DU, we actually have a bigger voice than you give us credit. The media knows
what to cherry pick off this forum and amplify....and if you think otherwise, than you are
minimizing the power of the Internet in a very convenient way.

17. As I said before
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 12:52 PM by bigwillq
all incumbents at every level, both D and R, should face primary challenges. Nothing wrong with it.

And you really have no idea of what I, or anyone else, do in my real life. But hate away. You always do. You really are no better than the people you're trying to blame.

22. I'm confident that a majority of DUers
have done what I listed above, including myself. There is a small minority of folks here on DU that are vocal critics. But a discussion board thrives on disagreement. I don't see anything wrong with the critics on a message board.
Now of the behavior that goes on on DU, goes on in my real life among the DEMS that I know.

11. Point well taken!
Whether Dems like it or not, this "trying to herd cats" mentality among Dems MUST change! We have to agree on a plan, stick to the plan, and avoid this infighting that gets Dems nowhere fast! The reTHUGs learned this long ago, and they use it to OUR detriment ALL the time! I want the following:

single-payer HCR
corporations punished and taxed for their outsourcing
publicly financed elections
properly FUNDED PUBLIC education
Social Security Guaranteed and upgraded
the Tea Party banished from the land

BUT, I know that realistically, none of this is going to happen with the snap of a finger. I will have to swallow policies that I don't agree with in order for the country and our party to progress. Why is this such a hard concept for some dems to grasp??????

13. Because some Democrats don't think that far ahead......
they want all and they want it now, just like the rest of our electorate.
the only difference is that the electorate have no clue how to get what they want,
while many Democrat Activist don't know how to get it.
