Economy and med insurance is impacting the blood center.

We continue to see lower usage at our hospitals the blood center I work for supplies. It's not surprising, since some cutbacks in staff at those hospitals made the news. I know a surgical nurse that is not working as much as he has in the past. It's because of fewer elective surgery's for sure, probably less people able to see a doctor, and be diagnosed as needing surgery for lack of insurance as well.

Medical insurance companies, raising rates and deductibles and covering less is what is responsible. Still their profits continue to skyrocket.

I live in town with two community colleges that both have nursing programs. I wonder where all those students think they are going to get jobs?

A lot of us already realize it's the middleman that needs to be cut out. At the very least a good public option would create the kind of competition we need.

If it continues, more people in the medical professions will realize they aren't working, so that the medical insurance companies profits can be protected.
