I am 100% convinced after watching Sarah Palin on Hannity tonight that she IS going to run for
Edited on Mon Nov-22-10 10:05 PM by jezebel
President in 2012.
Prior to this I had thought no, she is making too much money and probably knows she is so unqualified, but listening to her tonight, she is starting to get her talking points in order.
She must have 10 times referred to her "20 years" experience in goverment (don't ask me how she gets to 20 years?) and her vast private sector experience running a payroll which she repeatedly stated Obama lacks.
Overall there was just something different in her tone and presentation than I have seen from when she has been on the lovefest Hannity show before. I am convinced she has decided and she will run.
God help us all.

4. No doubt in my mind that she is running
I think we underestimate her. She is definitely not an intellectual.. but I do think she has street smarts. (or smart people advising her).

I also think she or her group sees what politics has become - one big marketing campaign. Substance and intellect doesn't seem to be as important to win a campaign as a winning PR effort. Just look at the tea bagging campaign for the last 2 years.

I think everything she has been doing has been calculated for her run in 2012 - everything from her books, to her endorsements to her TV shows and even Bristol's dancing thing.

8. I have to say something positive about Sarah Palin...
I wouldn't vote for her for President, if she was running against a ping-pong ball. However, I will say this.
I am impressed that she is totally bucking the Republican, neocon establishment. Karl Rove hates her and
Barbara Bush basically warned her not to run when she said, "I think Sarah Palin should stay in Alaska" on
Larry King Live the other night.

The Republican apparatus does not want her to run. My guess is that the kingmakers have decided that it's Jebbie's turn.

Kudos to Palin for taking on these bastard criminals. She may not be doing this out of bravery or to affect change.
She's most likely doing it for ego, and because she doesn't like to be told what to do. But still---the way our
entire political system is these days--with both Dems and Reps corrupt as hell and paid flunkies serving the corporations--I like
it that someone is daring to give the finger to the power structure on the Republican side that is killing our democracy.

Again--Palin probably couldn't handle being President of the Justin Bieber fan club. But I give her props for telling
the Bush junta to get bent.

Two years out, Palin’s got 100% name recognition -— but 50%-plus unfavorables.

Before the first primary.
Before the first negative ad.

Where’s her upside potential? Who are her persuadables, not presently sold?
The convertables? Who don't like her now but will later?

She peaks the week she announces. She’s gone the day after Super Tuesday.

Worry about global warming, or another shock to the banking system, or the Yankees getting Cliff Lee.

Real problems, in other words.

This is her moment, she's never going to have a chance like this one to get the Repuke nomination. Here we are, less than a year away from the big push for the Iowa caucuses, and there are really no other Rethug front runners in sight, especially none that can pass muster with the fundie GOP base.

16. Hopefully she will run...
because if she does Obama is guaranteed to win. Only about 3% of the people in this country think she's qualified to be president. And best of all, if she's chosen to be the GOP candidate, it'll turn all the moderates and independents away from the Republicans, which will give a significant amount of support to the Dems.

18. I'm pretty sure she'll run as a Republican.
And even if she does run in a third party, it will still be bad for the GOP, because they'll lose all their support from the teabaggers, and they won't have enough voters to defeat Obama.

Edited on Tue Nov-23-10 08:02 PM by golfguru
Actually all depends on where UNemployment numbers are in October 2012.
If over 10%, a ham sandwich will win in 2012.

If under 7.5% then it does not matter whom they nominate, Obama gets 4 more years.

The RNC decided essentially that Palin will have to be taken into the shed after her wackiness when running with McCain. She will never, ever be the Republican nominee.

Ever.

It'd be great if she "went rogue" as someone just suggested, and siphoned off the Tea Party vote. At the end, though, I think she'll get out of the way and endorse whomever the Republicans want.

29. I was convinced she'd run for President as far back as 2008
The Republicans have nothing but boring old farts lined up for 2012. Sister Sarah is perceived as "cute," "perky," "a devoted wife and mother just like me," "folksy," and may be as dumb as a box of hammers, but that box of hammers comes in a pretty little box with a big pink bow that too many Americans are suckers for.

41. Yes she will run, she will run a Republican...
...and she could very well win the nomination.

If she does get the nomination, she will chose Rubio as her VP. Actually, almost no matter who wins the GOP nod will likely pick Rubio as their running mate.

If she loses the nomination, she will NOT run 3rd party and will fully support the Republican ticket.

Palin/Rubio will almost certainly lose if the economy is performing better, but if we are still looking at unemployment rates over 9%....well....there is a slim chance she could win.

You just never know what is going to happen between now and then. Any number of negative events could hurt Obama's standing amongst the voters allowing a detestable candidate like Palin the opportunity to win.

Either way, the real action is likely to be 2016 and I am fairly convinced Rubio will be the nominee. I really do wish we'd been able to rally around one candidate and knock Rubio out now while we had the best shot to do so. He has the potential to be a very strong candidate for the Republicans as either/both a VP or Presidential nominee.

42. She isn't running - she is just opening up the bidding
She wants some high placed repubs to get together a "persuade me not to run" fund, so that the way is cleared for a real repub candidate. She will keep saying this stuff, and maybe even stay long enough to start a primary run, but only until someone high in repub circles finally gives in and makes her that offer she can't refuse.

And then she will quit her pretend "run". And it will work too - her coffers will be very full from pulling this stunt.

She must be using the time from when she was first elected to the Wasilla city council in, what, 1990, until now. There's the "20 years".

I guess then, by that logic, my new Governor Jerry Brown has 40 years of government experience since he became California's Secretary of State in 1970... ;)
