Boehner lied (shocking, I know)
Boehner says he'd support a middle-class tax cut

House Minority Leader John Boehner says he would vote for President Obama's plan to extend tax cuts only for middle-class earners, not the wealthy, if that were the only option available to House Republicans.

Boehner, R-Ohio, said it is "bad policy" to exclude the highest-earning Americans from tax relief during the recession, and later Sunday he accused the White House of "class warfare." But he said he wouldn't block the breaks for middle-income individuals and families if Democrats won't support the full package.

1. Old 'news,'
and while he may not have been lying at the time, repugs got pissed at him and shut this down immediately thereafter.

7. I am quite aware of the news.
I responded to the OP, which, again, cited an old story about what boner said months ago.

8. Are you really that puzzled why this is relevant?

Do you genuinely not see how this is more significant now that he actually voted against tax cuts?

9. Significant, yes,
my point was and still is that when he said it it was not a lie, he might have thought it would have been a good strategy/tactic/or just plain decision. He was admonished, and he has a new, 'important' role coming up, so its no surprise at all that he'd vote as his 'superiors' told him to vote.

P.S., 'Democrats were not united on the issue. Twenty voted with Republicans to kill the tax cut bill,' and '3 Republicans, including Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Walter Jones (NC) voted for the tax cut extensions.'

4. reality call. Boehner has learned that being the future speaker does not mean he leads the GOP,
but that he has to follow the Tea Party.

6. A more subtle and important lie is that they are NOT excluded - they get a cut on the first
$250,000 of taxable income.
