Senate Dems to follow House on tax cuts

Statement by the Press Secretary on Middle Class Tax Cuts

“The President continues to believe that extending middle class tax cuts is the most important thing we can do for our economy right now and he applauds the House for passing a permanent extension. But, because Republicans have made it clear that they won’t pass a middle class extension without also extending tax cuts for the wealthy, the President has asked Director Lew and Secretary Geithner to work with Congress to find a way forward. Those discussions started just yesterday and are continuing this afternoon. The talks are ongoing and productive, but any reports that we are near a deal in the tax cuts negotiations are inaccurate and premature.

Looks like the Senate vote is being expedited and the Repubs need to come to a decision soon. Of course, the bills in the Senate will fail without Republican support, but that's on them.

3. What they should do
Is keep the senate in session right through the holidays and keep on putting the bill out making the republicans keep on saying NO! If they want to play games, then play with them and force their hand. Get out the video of republicans stopping he bill, and also of republicans stopping unemployment extensions because they are not paid for. Get them on video trying to answer why unemployment has to be paid for, but tax cuts for the rich don't have to be paid for! Get democrats on every Sunday talk show with these videos, and make them pay for this kind of BS! The president should also go on TV and us the same clips showing the public just who is stopping the tax cuts for the middle class, and who is stopping unemployment extensions! Do the same damn thing the republicans do and don't stop using the clips to take them down!
