Look, I get it. Save reconciliation, you really can't do much about Lieberman being a complete dickhead. But I'm so sick and tired of everyone in the party pretending as if this is "okay." Why the hell can't someone call him out on this crap? Why can't we start hearing about what the party is going to do to prevent this shit from happening again?

WHY AREN'T THEY AS PISSED OFF AS I AM OVER THIS?

I can forgive Obama and the leadership for not getting Lieberman to fall in line. Ultimately, it's his decision and they can't cast his vote for him. What I don't forgive is them pretending that we didn't just get completely fucked over by Lieberman!

2. Someone needs to not only start TALKING about how angry they are...

but then take action on it. Do something that has never been done before -- JUST. DO. SOMETHING.!!!!

National referendum. SOMETHING.

It's sheer insanity at this point. A cruel, cruel joke.

3. I am as pissed off as you are!
Maybe more so.

But I'm just a private citizen, and I have NO voice.

None.

This is horrible, and it sucks.

What a pretense of a democracy this country has turned into.

Edited on Mon Dec-14-09 08:13 PM by Auggie
Maybe a few do. But so many have so much money and such great Senate benefits why should they rock the boat? They'll get their donations and spin their bullshit come re-election and the sheeple will vote for them because it's easy and familiar.

14. +1 They don't
I'm amazed at how many people still nurture the fantasy explanations of cowardice or intransigence or incompetency to explain what Congress is doing (or not doing). This is all based on the deeply flawed downright delusional notion that Congress is serving the people. Sorry, but if your name doesn't end with an Inc. or a Corp. you're invisible as far as most of Congress is concerned.

16. A few really care about the people
The rest are either easily pressured into falling in line, or are outright crooks.

10. The problem is clear to me when...
A Democrat and a Republican who condemn each other's views when apart refer to each other as "My good friend..." when they appear together.

In spite of all the partisan theatrics, they're all part of the same club, and we are not...

11. There is an alternative to reconciliation. The editorial in the 12-14 edition of
The Nation is intitled "Filibustering the Public". It features a compelling argument for doing away with the filibuster, i.e., exercising the "nuclear option".

This would rescue us from the tyranny of revenge-seekers like Lieberman and small state ideologues like Nelson who represent more fence posts than people.

last thing I need is to aggravate my already delicate digestive tract over this fool. I am simply awaiting comeuppance for him, and have faith that it will be a worthy one.

and whatever it is, I hope his insurance won't cover it.

13. It was more than Lieberman...
There are at least 5-10 more Democrats that are looking for reasons to stall or stop HCR with any kind of PO or Medicare buy-in. Believe me, many of the moderates and conservadems are supporting Lieberman on this, even if they are doing so behind the scenes. There are quite a few Dem Senators off the reservation on here.

There was never going to be a public option this time around, and the President has always known this. This has all been a dog and pony show. That is what politics mostly is anyway.

Oh, there will be a public option one day. There will probably be single payer eventually. The time is just not now for those things.

What Obama is doing is slowly turning the giant ship America to the left. It is a horribly slow process, but the importance of the Obama Presidency will not be felt for many years after he has left office.
