William Daley is currently serving on the Executive Committee of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co?
He's a bankster? How can this possibly be a good thing?

Please talk me down.

4. Just because the guy worked for a bank he is to be hated?
Please give more concrete reasons. This is as silly a prejudgment as any other.

5. Uh yes. The way DU has stated before----Obama is hiring corporatists or insiders...
who helped destroy the nation.

7. I'm the one looking for reasons not be worried about this
Edited on Thu Jan-06-11 03:19 PM by Cali_Democrat
I don't hate the man.

But after what the banksters did to our economy in 2008, a pick like this has me worried.

I need to be talked down and reassured that somebody serving on the Executive Committee of J.P. Morgan has our best interests at heart and not the interests of the banks.

13. I Understand Your Point...
But as has been stated many times before, perception is reality. I wish it weren't, but it is. As such, a choice like this just furthers the "belief" that our President is out of touch and does not know the first thing about messaging...unless it is a campaign.

18. You obviously don't know the mentality of banking execs.
Have you been around them?

Ever lived in NY or the surrounding metro area?

If you haven't, you know not of what you speak. There is a definite mentality that all these people share, and it has nothing to do with helping the little guy.

6. I won't bother. You already made your decision that he's an evil corporatist bastard.
You've closed down discussions.

8. Tell me why this pick is a good thing

Can you reassure me that somebody serving on the executive committee of JP Morgan has the people's best interests at heart and not the interests of the banks that tanked our economy in 2008?

12. That's not why you don't bother.
If you disagree with the idea that appointing yet another baskster insider is not good for people or if you have other information about Daley that would indicate his concern for the people, you could post that.

But you can't do either of those things, so you snark.

14. Don't make assumptions on my thought process. I hardly snark. I stated my point. End of story.
You clearly had an agenda---that I hardly think will get changed. So why should I bother? A google search would rack up good and bad points about Daley. However you already have an idea on what you think of the guy because of his job---therefore that is all you need to know. It's from that point you want to be "talked down". There's no talking to be done. I was always irritated when Rachel Maddow used to say this (and thankfully I haven't heard her say it in a while since she's been gathering her info). You might want to do that yourself.

19. My assumption is that you don't have a point.
You clearly have an agenda that precludes having to defend you position. It is a good thing to explain your snarks. The OP asked for reasoning. You supplied snark.

(Oh, and dude, People who contribute to a thread try to keep up with the discussion and who they are responding to. You might want to do that yourself.)

11. I don't know, I'd like to see how he performs at this job
Edited on Thu Jan-06-11 03:34 PM by Uzybone
I don't like his track record (Clinton), but then again I don't know anyone who I'd pick instead.

I'm sure there are many experts online who know exactly the right person for the job, I'm not one of them.

15. Did anyone ever think that there may be a few folks that work for banks that are not crooks?
It really wouldn't matter who he picked--some of the folks on here would automatically hate them and the president for picking them.

He's a good addition to the president's team.
