The stupid term "Obamacare" is driving me nuts.
It seems so mindless that they all use the same ridiculous Palin type language. I'm beginning to grit my teeth when hear them use the word with such contempt.

1. It's like "Darwinism." Attach a person's name to the concept you hate.
... because it's easier to promote hatred of a person when the concept you're targeting actually seems perfectly reasonable.

It's right wing terminology rooted in racism.

Period.

5. I never passed up using "contract on America' or any clever
derogatory terms for Republican programs. I don't let it bother me. I do marvel at the stupidity of some teabagger types. Frank Lunz can run this stuff by his focus groups and it works on those idiot.

9. Democrats aren't that smart, Bush called his recession the
Clinton recession every time he opened his mouth and Reagan named his the Carter recession.

it's "the Job Killing Health Care Bill".

.... on one hand, WE never came up with a good name for it. I have to think for a second to remember that it's the .... well heck, even I cant remember it exactly without looking it up.

And it's not like we're calling it "Nixoncare." .... give it 10 years "Obamacare" wont have a negative connotation.

But only in terms of language.

17. I still say that if it's "ObamaCare" then our economic woes should be the "Bush Recession"
because that would certainly be accurate.

18. And Cantor is calling it Obamacare on the Floor now
I am sick of all of these pukes. All of them. This is the worst part of decorum I have ever seen. When has anyone ever tried to repeal a bill that was put into place the previous year?? And do they even care that the people that voted did not want to repeal Heath Care Reform?? This grand-standing is killing our country. They could have cared less about the economy when Dumbo was in charge. They could have cared less about the deficit when Shit for Brains was in charge.

And I love Steny Hoyer. Give it to him Steny!!

20. I had a rare (since I'm uninsured) doctor's appointment yesterday
and when talking to the physician about "reform," I had to use the term "Obamacare" because I didn't think she knew what I was talking about. This might be understandable because she's a Vermont doctor and Vermont actually manages to cover sick people. I, on the other hand, live across the river in New Hampshire and the doctor agreed with me that New Hampshire doesn't really care whether you live or die.

24. Personally, I think the use of it should be forbidden here
I've seen endless posts over the last year and a half that adopt the (right-wing, Tea Party) term Obamacare with total nonchalance. Renaming things is a form of propaganda. It's the Affordable Care Act, and Congress wrote and passed it (at Obama's instigation, though millions of compromises between the two were made in the end). It's mean to attach a stigma (like when the Clinton health plan was called HillaryCare back in the early 90s).

I can see why the other side wants to do this (in the way that we say Reaganomics in a negative way), but our side should not do so. If you don't like the bill and wish to express your opposition to it, that's fine. But use its real name instead of aligning your self with Tea Partiers.

Reaganomics, Romney-care, Bushisms, McCarthyism, etc.
They attach a name for unpopular items.

When the benefits start kicking in, it'll be President Obama who gets credit, and there will be NO confusion about this.
