1. It depends on the people with the money and who
they want elected in 2012.

3. Corporate America is sitting on record profits
and not hiring, if they want Obama re-elected they will hire. It's like everything else in this country it is up to those who have the money.

4. Yes, they are sitting on record profits.
Still, there comes a time when they too will be impacted by a bad economy---not the very wealthy, but they are less than 2 percent of the population.

Also, I don't think that's a viable strategy for 2012.

5. Oh yes...corporate America IS hiring...overseas!
GE takes the most aggressive action to shift its production/earnings outside the country to avoid paying federal taxes. Another way to put this is that GE has done very well in minimizing its US payroll. At the end of 2009, GE employed 36,000 more people abroad than it did in the U.S. In 2000, it was the opposite. Since Immelt took over in 2001, GE has shed 34,000 jobs in the U.S. But it's added 25,000 jobs overseas.

6. The poll is about job creation in the US, as the data shows.
"Since Immelt took over in 2001, GE has shed 34,000 jobs in the U.S. But it's added 25,000 jobs overseas."

Focus on job creation in the U.S. That is the only thing that will bring down the number of unemployed in this country.

7. Jobs in US can not increase much until this happens
Edited on Sun Jan-23-11 07:16 PM by golfguru
which is that housing prices stop the decline. As you might know,
the single biggest asset Americans have is the value of their house.
Until that asset starts increasing, they have no appetite for spending.

My wife and I are looking at buying some property and did some looking
last few days and it is astounding how many homes are asking 40 to 50%
below the peak value 2 or 3 years ago.

8. So you think there will be no jobs created?
Edited on Sun Jan-23-11 07:30 PM by ProSense
A lot of things can impede job creation, but that wasn't the question.

There were 1.1 million jobs created in 2010.

14. There are always jobs created AND jobs lost by layoffs
and there is always population growth. We need to create over
2.5 million jobs aprox per year to budge the unemployment number
below 9%. And that seems unlikely to me until housing recovers.

15. Thanks
for this opinion:

"We need to create over 2.5 million jobs aprox per year to budge the unemployment number below 9%. And that seems unlikely to me until housing recovers."

Now, back to the OP poll question: How many jobs do you think will be created?

11. The economy gained 1.1 million jobs in 2010
Are you anticipating that the upward trend will be reversed and the economy will slide into a depression?

13. It's there
Millions lost is less than 1.5 million.

The other option is to start your own poll.
